Canada, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom are collectively seeking to hold Islamic Republic of Iran accountable for the downing of Flight PS752 and the death of 176 individuals. After Islamic Republic of Iran failed to participate in arbitration under the Montréal Convention, the countries have decided to refer the case to the International Court of Justice. The Coordination Group is committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and justice for the victims’ families.

The flight, shot down by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in January 2020, resulted in the deaths of 55 Canadian citizens and others with connections to Canada. Efforts to collect compensation have faced challenges, but Canada has imposed sanctions freezing Iran’s assets within the country. The International Court of Justice process will commence once the Iranian Embassy reopens after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
