Who’s to say we aren’t going through our own apocalypse? They had the Eugenics Wars. Whats to say we aren’t dealing with the CorpoWars. Corporations controlling vast swaths of the planet, destroying the environment, corrupting government officials, forcing people into squalor, using indentured servitude, and having a hand in genocide by actively oppressing minorities? Pretty fuckin apocalyptic to me. Especially as a disabled gay dude.

I’m a cis hetero white dude and the existential dread is real, brother. I worry more and more about what kind of world I’m leaving for the next generations.

It’s always important to keep the thought in mind, “what can I do to get the Eugenics War rolling?” Everyone can play their part, no matter how small.

It’s those Romulan temporal agents, trying to prevent the Eugenics Wars and, perhaps, conditions that would lead to the formation of the Federation.

Until I realized, it is the struggle itself that is most important. We must strive to be more than we are, Lal. It does not matter that we will never reach our ultimate goal. The effort yields its own rewards.

“But it’s just a silly show about space lasers and klingons!”

Genuinely some of the deepest dialogue I’ve seen in ANYTHING has come from all different facets of Star Trek.

I think one of the ideas of Star Trek was that humanity should not have to undergo terrible things in order to finally realize our potential. Rather, I think it was to show that humanity could achieve wonderful things as long as we try to do what’s best for us all, righting any wrongs we commit along the way

Except ST Discovery, which takes all steps backwards starting from season 3. I mean, it’s called STD for a reason…

      1. It’s called DSC as literally shown in show but sure. Pop off.

      2. That is your opinion.

      3. Mind try phrasing that opinion as an opinion instead of fact? I disagree with you on all points. That’s fine. You can have your opinion and I can have mine. But try to tone down the toxicity and throwing hatred. Try being constructive or critical without being hateful. Genuinely astounds me that Star Trek fans seem to be the last one to learn that lesson.

Edit: That STD line is just so stupid that I thought of it again today. Do you go around starting every acronym with ST? Is it STTNG? STTOS? STLD? STVOY?

definitely not. most people around this world are spiritually defeated, constantly being bombarded by reminders that things generally suck. it prevents people from striving for their full potential, because they don’t think it’ll ever happen.

we’re all capable of it, and I truly believe there is a growing movement that isn’t directly being publicized. just like this post implies, we’ll get there.
