I remember getting sent to the principals office for “hacking” (pinging the computer in the next room) in like 8th grade.
Back in 4th/5th I actually was hacking, modifying our user menu to add Windows 3.1 and a password (copying config from a teacher’s profile). Also brute-forced at least two teachers passwords.
I’m a network architect now, so there’s that.

As a network guy…open up your favorite web-managed application and open the developer console. Inspect the transactions you see and compare it to the applications REST API reference, and you’ll likely find a lot of commonality (and maybe some undocumented endpoints!).
Backend made the API and everything that is performed by it. Front end is doing the GUI based off the response and promoting for input.

Fun fact, first webcam was a series of updating stills of an actual coffee pot so some engineers would know if there was coffee made.
Serious question…why would an entirely isolated GPS constellation need to have “a time zone” as opposed to it’s own epoch (like unix)? It’s on the receiver side that all the computation happens, aren’t the satellites essentially just announcing an agreed-upon time? Wouldn’t the client be able to do it’s own comparison of “it’s time”, as long as it’s source of time is also synchronized with the constellation?

Unclear if there’s a causation but there is very much a correlation. I think there is a causation, these people think Humans couldn’t cause climate change, or that God is ultimately in charge of it and we should just throw up our hands and expect “Him” to take care of it.

My biggest problem with 4k and ultra wide monitors is screen sharing (like on zoom/teams/WebEx etc).
Most people still have 1080p screens at best, so when someone with a 4k or ultra wide shares their screen, it’s really tough to see what’s going on.
My main display is a 4k TV, but if I have to share, I’m sharing a window, or one of my auxiliary (1080p) screens.
Not a software engineer (network engineer…so I dabble in Python but that’s about it).
Still, my work setup has over 14.5 million pixels spread across 4 displays, and usually another laptop or tablet going as well.
As someone who works in IT, and specifically networking and security, the “trade subs” are honestly what I miss.most from reddit. Places like sysadmin, Cisco, Fortinet, talesfromtechsupport, etc.
