Unfortunately I don’t think they have the perspective to think long term. Even when the Palestinians are peaceful, Israel continues to evict them from their homes and steal more of their land in violation of UN accords. It’s incredibly sad that Palestinians are choosing to kill civilians, but the Israel military have targeted Palestinian civilians many times over the past 15 years, and that hasn’t really shifted the public opinion in the west against Israel, so they likely assume there is no hope for western support. These are desperate people that are fighting back in a hopeless lopsided war. They likely know really have no hope of winning at this point, but are trying to take out as much revenge as they can against their oppressors, the Israeli people.

Also, these attacks were likely funded by Iran, and Iran is not as interested in Palestinian freedom as much as they are in the destruction of Israel, so the Palestinians have likely been encouraged to take action that will not help their cause for freedom because it will help Iran with their goals of destabilizing israel. It’s horribly sad all around.
