I know. But not everybody seems to share your enthusiasm for locking the communities on world.
Looking at your examples:
The movie ones: To me the world one looks like the way healthier community, a lot more different users posting stuff, on lemm.ee it’s mostly some power users creating all the content, actually really only moderators of that community. I find you talking about how it is the more active community a bit dishonest tbh. Same i found with the dataisbeautiful one. I have a feeling you care more about computers (fedi infra) than the topics.
The gaming one somebody else told you their opinion on it, and why it is a good community.
The android ones… i don’t really have an opinion on it. IIRC at first they were all on the world (or.ml?) one and then created the lemdro.id instance. What about the .ml one by the way? Why is it only ever a problem when world has a community that exists elsewhere?
Generally i don’t think having multiple active c’s is all that problematic, at least they are active.
From your message, I feel like people on LW want to keep communities on “LW instances”, I’m wondering why.
Because these communities are already there and are active, that’s why. Not everybody has to share your enthusiasm for removing communities from lemmy.world.
What are the design features of lemmy.world that make it stand out here?
The instance beef is annoying to me, but i’m not here for the politics talk, maybe that’s why i don’t get it. I see pleasant and unpleasant users coming from all kinds of instances.
Thank you for all your work and congratulations to Nutomic! Best wishes!
intrusive off-topic political discussion
Yeah that is pretty much what i meant.
Never really tapped into beehaw because i am on lemmy.world, but seeing people from other instances say that you had some good content, i’d say stay and refederate with lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works.
I may have made a rude comment that is visible on my first user page but that is generally not my style.
I also did not complain about lemmy being toxic, or more toxic than reddit, i said that compared to reddit, i am seeing a lot more angry people and toxic discussion because i look further than just my niche interests since they have hardly any traffic. That is still my honest take on the topic.
I am reading a lot more toxic discussion and really angry people here on lemmy than i did on reddit, which makes me sometimes think i might be at the wrong place. I blocked some of the communities that pull american politics in my feed but still. On reddit, i was good reading just my niche interest subs, but there is very little traffic here for niche stuff, so i end up reading the crazy talk too.
Not really, that would be more like lumping the states Bavaria and Schleswig-Holstein together when talking about Germans.
I do this too when solo travelling. Gives you a good feel for the city I think.
