Some people actually want to know things and are curious about where they came from, what they’re made of, who their family is.
Submitting your DNA can increase your knowledge. It sounds like you can’t believe people would seek knowledge.

Just like there are shitloads of bad SD cards (no-name, unbranded, generic, etc.), it’s just as cheap and easy for any random company to produce their own SSD and get it in circulation on the market just like legitimate SSDs.
Any SSD that could be damaged by a swap file is not an SSD you should have anywhere near your system in the first place (even if you never plan on putting a swap file on it).
My thought on this:

SSD-only systems have been a thing for over a decade, and SSDs themselves have been around for decades.
If standard swap files damage SSDs, someone probably would have said something.

Memmy cannot pin/favorite a community without subscribing to it.
That is something that Apollo, Narwhal, Bean, Voyager, Mlem, and a few other apps have been able to do.
In fact, the only other app I use that also lacks such functionality like Memmy is the official Reddit app.
Memmy is nice, but such missing functionality has put it low on my list of favorite clients.
Imagine all the wonderful things Russia could be doing if they didn’t have Putin ruining everything.
It’s beta software syncing with beta software, all while being crushed with a flood of users no one expected before last month.
I’m surprised things are working as well as they are now.
Things will get better and more functional as time passes.
Can you add communities to Favorites without subscribing to them?
I’d like to add shortcuts to various communities without their content filling up my regular feed.
Both Narwhal and Apollo for reddit supported this, and Voyager for Lemmy supports this.
Memmy is currently the most advanced Lemmy client for iOS right now, but it does NOT have this functionality.
I’ve been paying $25 a month to run into relatives that all have their trees set to PRIVATE.
They’re my cousins / second-cousins, and I’m not sure who their parents are or how they fit into my tree.
The site lets you look at US Census data… from the 1950s or some shit. So I can piece together family information upwards half a dozen ways to my grandparents and their parents and so on, but I can’t seem to get any info from the system for anyone born after the 1950s.
I keep paying because I’m trying to solve a spooky family mystery.

I’ve noticed this, too. Ever since Memmy first came out. Images randomly cannot be swiped away.
It’s either images that don’t swipe away with Memmy or the entire screen becoming unresponsive to touch with Voyager/wefwef. The two best Lemmy clients each have their own issues.
Punishing the poor and making things harder for them to dig out of their situation is certainly for the best!
