I think the current logo would work fine as a unicode character. I dislike the three anuses for a logo.

Dead internet theory goes quite a bit further than what people mean when they talk about seeing more bots. Ardent believers of DIT think 90%+ of online interactions are not real for example, and that the US government has more advanced AI tech to fake these interactions than what is publicly known.

I’m not sure I’d mark every “the government is behind X/Y” conspiracy theory as anti-semitic either. The issue is more that those theories act as gateways towards more extreme conspiracy theories (which are more likely to be actually anti-semitic).

Apparently the idea stems from the IRC days where the first user to join a channel would receive admin rights. So people wrote bots to stay in channels and only grant admin rights to specific users joining. Then came more novelty bots that would stick around in channels, even bots that “chatted” with one another. When you’d join a channel and ask if there were any humans around they’d answer “just bots”, which eventually became a meme and then regular humans started saying that too as a joke.

That idea morphed into the “Everyone on Reddit is a bot except you” meme, which coupled with obvious bot activity on Twitter turned into the “Dead Internet Theory”, which basically takes the meme seriously. Rules definitely help keep a language more consistent! They’re not without use. It also helps to teach language to children and makes established parts of a language stay more consisteny over time. However, pretending there’s a rhyme or reason behind all of them is hard to justify, as well as claiming “x is correct because of rule y” if a majority decides z is correct instead.

People seem to be downvoting you but you’re absolutely right. Languages are dynamic and evolve all the time. The language “rules” are merely descriptive; they explain how most people use the language, and if you want to make sure everyone can understand you it’s best to follow them.

Even then there’s some wiggle-room. Take the gif/jif pronunciation debate, it was coined as “jif” but the majority of people switched to “gif”. So (depending on the dictionary you own) it will often either list just “gif” as correct, or list both as equally valid pronunciations (which given the sizeable minority for “jif” seems like the correct approach imo). All the gift/giraffe/creator-says-x is just fluff and not actually all that relevant.

Here’s the package one of our former developers created. It has some advantages and some drawbacks, but overall it’s been quite a treat to work with!

At the company I work at we use UUIDv7 but base63 encoded I believe. This gives you fairly short ids (16 chars iirc, it includes lowercase letters) that are also sortable.

… No you just use Windows built-in rollback feature. Which I think even auto-recovers these days of it detects a failure to boot after an update.

It’s not a proof of possible/impossible universes, it’s a counterexample to the argument that infinite universes must necessarily mean that there’s a universe with anything in it. It disproves that there must be a universe with X in it because there are infinite universes. It does not disprove that there isn’t a universe with X in it.

It makes no claims that the multiverse must necessarily be constrained, but it does show that you can’t simply assume that the multiverse must be unconstrained. That needs to be proven first. And there are compelling arguments to assume that said constraints do exist (in some way).

The point is that people tend to claim the opposite, that an infinite amount of universes means everything and anything is happening in some universe somewhere. Which can’t be true, as a universe where someone creates some device that destroys all universes does not exist (as proven by our own existence).

Therefore it follows that there must be some constraints, though what those constraints actually are is obviously a very difficult problem.

The “infinite fractions between 1 and 2 which are not 3” is an example that shows that infinite =/= everything.

It would indeed cause a rift between NATO. Which is why it’s unlikely that anyone would support an Israeli invasion of the Hague.

The Netherlands would invoke article 5 of NATO in that case. I don’t think such an action would end well at all.
