Valve has contributed a lot into Proton for the Steam Deck which makes it great for Linux users.
For most people it’s because nothing bad has happened to them personally… YET. They just get comfortable with what they are already doing and everything is fine in their life until one day it isn’t.
You can block entire communities, you’ll probably have to do it from the site.
The most secure thing to do would be to host your own server. You can do this with Bitwarden. Remember though that if you lose your server, you lose your passwords. You can also just use Bitwarden and their cloud service. It’s free and open source.
You definitely can and “karma” definitely exists. Some apps show it, some don’t.

I’m pretty sure that my job is related to the majority of my mental health issues so I’m really happy to get out. It’s pretty emotional though because 11 years at a job is a long time.
