I fired off the dirtiest vote today. I’m not a huge fan of Starmer but I hate the Tories much more, and they recently changed the rules so if you’ve been abroad for more than 15 years you’re allowed to vote again.

So I sent a 100% tactical fuck-you vote from overseas via proxy, motivated by nothing more than wanting to join in kicking the shit out of the Tories while they’re already down.

Yeah I don’t really like it either, but TBH things are so bad that just destroying the Tories is good enough for me this time around.

Hopefully they’ll be radioactively unelectable for a really long time, and we can push it in a better direction over the next couple of elections.

I can’t imagine a faster way to turn the public against you than to take a potshot at David Tennant lol.

It’s possible that they might just be going for a broad-appeal manifesto to make sure they get in, and then plan to introduce the more radical stuff further down the line.

But also it is Kier Starmer and Labour, so it’s equally possible they’ll do bugger all and/or kick themselves directly in the dick when they have an open goal at the last possible second.

Time will tell, I suppose.

If I can propose a slight tweak, if you know he’s heading your way might I suggest buying the milkshake about a week beforehand to allow it to reach it’s full potential? Let it level up, so to speak.

After the last decade or so, I’m not putting anything past the voting public. I’ll celebrate the Tories being out of power when the election results are read out, and not a moment before.

I’m far too old to be subject to this, but I cannot emphasise how strongly the government could fuck right off if they wanted to draft me.

For one thing, the government doesn’t own us. We’re not things to be deployed as they see fit. We own them. We pay for them, and their jobs come and go at our discretion.

For another, fuck all the way off with this “national spirit” shit. You know how you build national spirit? Build a nation that people are actually proud of and want to live in. If we had any solidarity amongst ourselves during the pandemic, it was because we had to band together to get through the crisis because the government was doing fuck all to help. Or was actively endangering people to generate money for business with things like Eat Out To Help Out, which was spearheaded by… Rishi Sunak.

Thirdly, fuck off even further with volunteering with the Police, Fire and NHS. AKA the services that we pay for with our fucking taxes that they’re supposed to administrate, but instead apparently the plan is to piss all the money away on nothing, make us still pay for it, and then force us to work for them for free to keep them fucking running.

Fuck. Right. Off. I will go to prison before I participate in this fucking nonsense.

I’ve always wanted to learn to juggle, but I keep procrastinating and putting it off. But if I suddenly had 4 arms I’d definitely need to actually do it.

I managed to end up in a sort of grey area where I’m a UK citizen, and I still have money and other interests in the UK, and I still go back regularly, but I’m also a permanent resident overseas, so I haven’t been allowed to vote anywhere for a couple of years. So it’s nice to get that back.

As I said in another comment, I also fully intend to use it to help bury the Tories lol.

For what it’s worth, I fall into this group and I’m really glad the Tories were the ones to give me the vote back, because I fully intend to use it against them and hopefully do my part to bury them, hopefully forever.

IMO the one thing they can’t escape is themselves. I saw an illustration of one of these survival bunkers, which went ten floors down, with the bottom floor being a huge armory. My first thought was, so it’s going to be nine storeys packed to the brim with entitled sociopaths, sitting on a massive pile of guns?
