Lol, you say that like it’s a good thing for everyone on the internet to be relentless assholes to eachother. And everyone who was around at the dawn of the internet talks about how before everyone was a total shitlord, spaces on the internet often had a sense of community

I guess people hadn’t yet realized that there were no in-person consequences for saying the most vile or cruel thing they could scrounge up from some damaged corner of their brain

  • Not the person you’re replying to but wanted to share my 2 cents

You might consider keeping things broad given how small a platform lemmy is and how niche the subject matter is. I like the idea of them being separate but splitting community more than strictly necessary runs the risk of the community dieing without enough people having things to post. You can always acknowledge future plans to split, and make it two separate communities in the future

Ultimately you know best what kinda space you wanna make and how you wanna go about it, I just think your community idea is neat and wanna see it reach a stable number of active users :)

Hope you have a great day!

  • Yum! Brands, Inc. (sometimes called simply Yum!), formerly Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc., is an American multinational fast food corporation listed on the Fortune 1000. Yum! operates the brands KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and The Habit Burger Grill, except in China, where the brands are operated by a separate company, Yum China. Yum! previously also owned Long John Silver’s and A&W Restaurants. The company was created as a spin-off of PepsiCo in 1997.

I went and looked up the Wikipedia page out of curiosity when someone disagreed that they’re a Chinese conglomerate and thought I’d share for anyone else reading the thread.

Short answer: not a Chinese conglomerate.

  • Absolutely, the smaller size is both a blessing and a curse. The shitposing sub reddit is actually funny! But the small communities aren’t very active, or don’t exist, and that’s most of what I engaged with before. There’s room to contribute to discussions, and conversion is healthier cause there aren’t so many people its impossible to meaningfullly relate to anyone else! But its a bit harder to lurk.

Regardless, I’m excited this exists, and its neat to engage with an online community that feels different from what I’m used to :)

Hope you have a good one!
