Well now I have to see it, what’s Spock’s Brain? Is that the name of an OT episode? Haven’t made my way through the OT yet.
I’m here because Lemmy.World keeps going down and Beehaw activity plummeted after defederating from the larger instances.

I had to skip all episodes with her
So like, some of the most important episodes to the Bajoran story lines? What? I hate her too but, what? lol
And it was this comment that got me to realize it’s the same actress. Amazing I never saw that before. Albeit I haven’t seen Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in like over ten years but still lol
given their direct rulers are the billionaires

Yeah, I use threads like these to block users. Can’t wait for lemmy to implement user level instance blocking like mastodon has.
Edit: don’t downvote me, tell me what issue you have with this.
It’s from Babylon 5, for anybody coming to the comments and wasn’t familiar with what show this is from.
I like how many options they have. Wasn’t expecting the Maquis ship to be represented.
Running my own instance unfortunately isn’t a feasible option for me at this moment in my life. I’ll be looking into that in the future when I’m in a better spot but it’s not an option for a lot of creatives. I may have the technical knowledge to run and upkeep an instance but most artists aren’t that tech savvy. So this will remain a problem for Pixelfed attracting artists even if I run my own instance.
I wanted to pursue Pixelfed as an artist and post my work there but every instance I found seemed to have a 1GB storage limit which just isn’t super viable long term. Maybe if they have a way where individuals can link their own cloud storage service or something? If the instance owners don’t want to host all that media? That’s the main thing holding me back from investing more energy into that platform for now though. I’d love to be able to get away from Instagram but for artists it’s still pretty much required for anybody who wants to find clients (especially now with Twitter what it is).
Say what you will about W (there’s a lot to criticize) but he was quick with those dodges lol
I guess I am wondering why not just remove the insult comments as they broke the rules instead of nuking the whole thing?
My guess is that it’s just an equation of energy input and time spent. Is it worth removing the problem comments if they keep coming back? How much time as a mod are you willing to spend removing and banning people like that? I can understand taking the approach they did. Personally, I think maybe just locking the thread would’ve been a better compromise. But I’m not a mod here nor would I want to be lol
W raised the banner saying “Mission Accomplished” what more do you want? Jeez.
I actually don’t think he had a role in TNG.
I’m so happy this is the top comment when I came in here. We’re not centralized social media that requires constant content generation to acquire more views and we shouldn’t try to treat it as such. Donate to your instances when you can, contribute to communities you care about with posts/comments, and then when you reach the end of your feed log off. How forums are supposed to be imo.
This isn’t about their political views in particular, this is about them brigading comment sections and derailing from the original topic and shouting down anybody who disagrees.
Defederation because of political views is, frankly, dangerous for democracy.
What? This is such a ridiculous claim I’m not even sure where to start. Federation does not equal democracy, and defederation from a shitty spammy instance has zero impact on democracy.
This post is from RT, about Ukraine/Russia/Belarus but the biggest thread in here is rehashing the Iraq occupation. Can we just discuss the original topic? Is that so hard?
This is why so many instances defederate from hexbear, they do this in every comment section. Just turn it into whataboutism against the US, and add nothing to the topic that’s actually being discussed by the article. They’re basically lemmygrad but brigade comment sections more often.
It’s like a Midwestern US word for surprise or exclamation, commonly used in place of “whoops” or even “oh”. It’s also common in Canada from my understanding. Somebody from lemmy.ca feel free to correct me there.
Nope, I have cats and it’s still only one way. I’m sorry but we can’t be friends with that attitude.
Making my way through DS9 and Voyager now, I’ll put that on the docket next. Can’t wait for season three lol
