  • I am a complete disaster, sometimes errors slip in even when I have a UI done by a designer because I am totally “blind” to certain aspects.

    In my personal projects I try to follow guidelines and best practices for dimensions/typography/colors/placing of elements/etc but the results are “meh” of course, since apart from my layout-blindness I am more tolerant to small sins, since it’s not work after all.

    If the project gets to be used by a few people (of course not the faint of heart) I collect feedback and iterate over it to improve the UX.

  • Not all mobile apps allow it because it’s a little tricky with the Lemmy APIs.

    • Liftoff used to have thia feature but it’s discontinued;
    • Summit has added this feature, you can access it by “Community info” -> “Instance info” -> “Communities” when you are on a community on the instance you want to explore;
    • RaccoonForLemmy has it in the “Instance info” sheet tapping the “⋮” button in the top bar when you are on a community of the instance you want to explore;
    • I couldn’t find anything similar in Jerboa, Voyager, Thunder and Eternity, don’t know about the other ones.

  • The first time some random user files a sue in court the admins of their instance will be in trouble.

    Lemmy devs are not affected, but instance admins are and according to the GDPR they are considered “data controllers” and are responsible for the processing of users’ data.

    As far as I understand it, this lacking feature is an open “challenge” to existing regulation and legislators, maybe also to open people’s eyes about the fact that privacy claims are often not enforced even by those who claim to do so.

  • This is the price the EU has to pay for having wanted to expand to the East without verifying that the annexed countries were meeting requirements or were mature enough democracies. And the price to pay is immobilism today (in a situation that would rather require action) and doom tomorrow.

    But, since we are on Lemmy where the average user goes like “Europeans are ex-colonialist capitalist exploiters and need to be eaten alive”, in the end I think the situation is going towards the better for humanity.

  • This happened during a historical commemorative event (for an episode happened in the 70s where some people who belonged to a far right group were killed and the perpetrators were never processed) which happens every year and nobody ever cared about it. Suddenly I’m 2024 everyone is pointing fingers.

    Italy is what it is, everyone here who feels superior and judge should look at their own country: all Europe (East and West, South and North) is leaning towards the far right except Spain, so don’t feel so superior. Even not agreeing with any f#scist regime, being told that we are a “sh#t country” or other things written in the comments here is not pleasant at all.
