Wait until you learn about resin printers
Wait until you learn about resin printers
I think you got mixed up a bit.
A plotter is a specialized printer used for drafting and generally uses big (usu. 3-4ft length) rolls of paper. Some types do use pens, though they’re usually short and specially shaped making them difficult to use manually
The OC was referring to the pens that work like an auto-feeding hot glue gun using colorized glue, or PLA if the heating element gets hot enough.
Not sure how “hidden” these are, but they can be really useful

I’m assuming by the mention of powder everywhere that it’s a dry chem one, which usually don’t have a recharge port and tend to be single use. (but recyclable/exchangeable) The powder it uses is what complicates things as it’s messy (think baby powder mixed with baking soda messy) and would also need to be refilled.
You have to get materials for the replicators to make things some way, don’t you?
Where does Gollum fit in?
I’m sorta similar to you, but it’s OA (from movement disorder) in my left toe and had it since elementary. It’s progressed so much after 20+ years that the knuckle doubled in size and the joint dislocated itself.
For me unfortunately, it’s too far gone for stretches, diet or any other home-based remedy to work. The options on the table now would be regular cortisone shots (helps, but only temporary), joint replacement (issue prone w/ short lifespan), and a complete fusion of the joint. Right now I’m decided on fusion, I just need to work out the logistics and schedule it.
For anyone else in a similar boat, don’t ignore/put it off and please try to get help for it before you get stuck with surgery as the only option.
When you sent find the hole…
$30 can indeed get you a pretty decent and reliable pair. (may need to forgo a digital readout for accuracy)
Just be cautious about ones that seem to good to be true for the price. One of our previous EEs went on tool shopping spree at AliExpress and the calipers they bought (prolly ~$5/each) had a 1.5mm variation in it’s reading and it’s physical scale was just a vinyl label that wasn’t even on straight.
Google maps also likes routing this way
