  • On pixel 2 and 3 this shit was amazing. I never had an issue with Google Assistant absolutely perfect assistant app. Then I got a samsung fold and, despite allegedly being the same app, it sucks all the donkey dick and balls. It’s clearly not the same Assistant, and if it IS then google fucking ruined it.

It struggles recognizing the switch from wifi to data. Getting in my car and giving it commands to play music takes forever because it hangs up with the (now distant and poor) wifi

Commands to call people when I’m outside (walking dog, garden etc) suck for the same reason.

Voice to text is trash. It’s always getting words wrong, mishearing requests, or putting words that I didn’t fucking say. Half of my sentences start with “is” for some reason. “Is I need you to get dog food” like bruhhhh

I thought it was just because Google was punishing samsung users to push Pixels. This thread makes me feel vindicated. I wasnt wrong or mis-remembering with rose tinted glasses. It really is hot garbage lol

  • Tangentially related to the article, a common voice in the US is “its Parents jobs to teach their kids X Y and Z!”

But they fucking aren’t. A fantastic example is sexed. Explaining sex is so awkward for parents and kids alike that most kids don’t ever get “the talk” in any meaningful capacity. They get taught whatever their parents manage to say while being embarrassed about the subject. Positions and safety they got comfortable with. If dad was the fuckboy who never wore a condom (like how you wind up with kids as an inexperienced parent in the first place), how can he be expected to teach his kid how to use one properly? He won’t. He’ll say some biased shit like “real men don’t wear condoms” and then that’s just fact in the kids eyes. Mom not being much better, not properly explaining post-sex cleanup and self-care. These are of course hypotheticals, but they’ve been real enough problems an argument was made for schools to teach it because it wasn’t getting done at home.

Kids aren’t being taught how to not be slobs when they eat, a friend dated a Mexican woman with a kid and she got mad he was “teaching her son to be white” with basic table manners - shit like elbows and phones off the table and using a fork over his hands (the kid was 7, well at the age of these things). She was so intolerant of him helping raise her son as an equal half of a whole relationship. Handing him oreos 20 minutes before bed as a “reward for brushing his teeth”

Kids screen habits have gone wild. Parents letting ipads and TVs raise their kids when they’re too busy (thisnone beginning with millenials at the earliest). This is of course a side effect of parents being so busy just to pay bills issues in the US. If you work 3 jobs how CAN you be expected to have time for a kid? “Just make it work” I guess.

Kids spend more time inside than ever, this is cool and all, but when they develop zero social skills it will hurt them in the long run. I would know, I was the indoors kid on my PS2.

None of these are new or unique to GenZ but rather the latest manifestation of these issues. Parents failures is an ongoing generational issue, for certain, but parents lining up to get upset at a school because they didn’t do their job as a parent, is the ultimate shitty parent thing to do. Sorry, not sorry.

My parents missed a lot of things and that’s what school and friends were for. Gutting these systems only hurts us all.

  • Oh my fucking God yes. Every individual pro (nfl?) football team has a sub Every individual pro fifa (whatever) soccer team has a sub Every individual ice hockey team has a sub Polo. Formula 1. COLLEGE football teams! College football divisions! And whos going to the super bowl. Basketball. A sub for who’s going to make it to the final 5. Volleyball. Whatever big volleyball bullshit is. And then relevant WOMENS versions for all of these (no extra hate, just extra numbers) Baseball! Baseball teams history!

Then there’s leagues! Big10. The other big conference! Every coalition for Soccer. Conferences for Basketball. Divisions for hockey. Like holy shit! There’s more categories for sports than nsfw!

EDIT: I need to add that I did the math in another comment: there are (For a US citizen) 32 NFL teams and 113 College football teams. 32 Fifa Soccer teams. 29 US Mens soccer clubs (plus 3 Canadian). 12 More Women’s Soccer teams -only one league. 10 Formula 1drivers/teams. 8 womens volleyball teams. 30 mens baseball teams (29US 1 Canada). 32 teams in the NHL. and lastly, 30 NBA teams. In total this is 331 “Teams” and is the bare minimum before consulting each city will post about a game, individual players with followings, and broad subs like “MLB” is different from “Orioles” and results in more subs needed to block

  • I do it in our (largish) discord server because, quite frankly, the trash won’t take itself out, and I like the community we have cultivated. Everyone wants a well moderated community, where people use the right channels for what theyre named, and don’t come into other channels and start spamming Nwords and other slurs. Everyone wants an unbiased moderation staff that follows a set of their own rules so people don’t get banned unfairly. And in my eyes that’s what we do. (I wont speak for other places on discord, just us) I like to be part of the group keeping chat clean for others to find people to play with. I enjoy talking to users and the conversations happening, so why not give a little time back to keep it that way?
