The question came up last year when Republicans floated the idea of pushing Trump into the role after Kevin McCarthy was voted out. Just as was the case with Trump, Musk could become speaker because you don’t actually need to be a House member to hold the position.

The U.S. Constitution’s only requirement for the speaker of the House is that the person is chosen by the House of Representatives. Thus, Musk could serve as the House speaker if he got the support and votes to do so.

Definitely a wait and see for the motive, could very easily be an interpersonal thing vs a killing the bosses thing

It’s something Marco Rubio has been pushing for years and he was nominated for a cabinet position, so I guess he gets rewarded with this

I doubt it means anything will change, but I think he is signalling that this specifically is an issue that he doesn’t really care about which is diverging from the wider Trump 2024 campaign, he almost certainly will still throw his support behind bans from the military and bans of trans youth care
