I think it would have been cool to have 1 or 2 Kazon episodes, and then maybe a surprise one or two seasons later when Voyager discovers they had been followed or something. But it was just not a good idea to try and make them the main antagonists as long as they did.
Sarek felt that he could have demonstrated more affection towards his human wife in a way that was meaningful to her. That is not the same thing as saying that Vulcan culture is unaffectionate, or that other Vulcans would consider Sarek as not affectionate.
OP is referring to Vulcan culture. Sarek’s displays of affection would probably not be considered “restrained” in a Vulcan-Vulcan relationship.
I don’t know if it’s correct to say that Vulcan culture is unaffectionate, just thay they don’t express affection in the way you are used to. Remember: Spock was played the way he was in the 1960s to demonstrate the distance humans are willing to go to tolerate other cultures, no matter how (literally in this case) alien.
There’s definitely a lot to unpack in suggesting that their culture deserves to “fail” because they do not assimilate (lol) into your culture.
I know what some of those words mean!
A truly feminist society would allow women to choose a traditional gender role but not force it upon them.
I love the TOS Mudd episodes (and Roger Carmel’s performance) but I have to agree with everything you said.
I’m still waiting on an Okana spinoff simply titled Star Trek: Outrageous

Well, this season looks officially ridiculous.
My unpopular opinion is that while the 2009 Enterprise does not look at all like the starships I know and love (more) it is definitely doing it’s own thing in a unique (and tonally consistent with the Ambramsverse movies) way that I appreciate.
The design language for those films is a sort of 2010’s retro-futurism that just lands really well IMO.
Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s trying to bait the court into a “Measure of a Man” debate since all these people do is try to bait others into pointless exhausting performative “debates”.
Well said and I’m glad to see this perspective expressed. “Entertainment” is the spice we give art to well, spice it up. But without the art part, pure entertainment is to our minds like eating a bowl of candy is to our bodies.
Oh yeah I should have mentioned that the whole interview is great
