This is the course all programmers have to take before they get to take the real programming course. The purpose is to introduce programming concepts in a way that essentially anyone who is interested will be able to understand. The instructor is fantastic.

Not exactly geared towards 8yo but if you have the time and inclination, you could go through some of these videos to see how the topics are presented and then try to introduce those topics yourself to your child. Or at least look for resources that introduce them like the comment above talking about scratch.

Or better yet, maybe you both do these lectures together and learn the fundamentals of programming without getting bogged down in a specific language or with specific syntax. I’d bet that will become a core memory for any child.

Don’t feel bad. Nearly all the critical systems for computers I generally represent at least 1 person’s (sometimes many peoples) life work. You can’t possibly understand every aspect of everything program your computer uses.

I suspect there is not a single person in the world that fully understands every aspect of GRUB, SSH and systemd. There is simply too many fine details in these things to understand everything.

No need to feel bad. Your biggest power is the one you take for granted: your ability to Google and educate yourself when needed. Many people can’t do that effectively.

Also remember that you can’t lose weight in a specific part of your body. As you lose weight, your body chooses where the fat is reduced. No exercise can target fat in a specific area. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something.

Should note that working on the underlying muscle might help certain areas look less fat but that effect is negligible compared to finding a regimen that works for you in the long run to keep your calorie intake less than your calorie burn rate .

Haven’t they had multiple episodes where something is in the ‘buffer’ of the ship? What is the buffer? Why can’t you just copy the buffer and put whatever you want into it?

Whats the difference between a transporter and a replicator? Once you’ve gotten the pattern of a tomato why can’t you just keep copying it? Presumably a human is too complicated to do that regularly but why not a tomato?

Whatever country you are from, think about the most backwards/rural/remote location that has people with backwards and regressive views.

Consider that India likely has 5 to 10x the population of rural folks in small villages that have midevil views compared to your country.

Add in long standing cultural misogynist views that is so pervasive it fully permeates all aspects of government and life and you quickly get to a point where abuse and domestic violence is tolerated.

As per usual, it’s not like the entire country shares these views. It’s just the the number of backwards views in India is numerically huge because of its population.
