You failed to include a very relevant part of information in your post: your own gender. I don’t know if you omitted it on purpose, or out of obliviousness, but going on the assumption that you’re a man due to your language towards women:

Did it not occur to you that a male patient could actually be acting more aggressively towards your female coworkers? That he would be less cooperative towards those “damn nagging women” than towards a man? And that the standards of what makes a male patient scary could be completely different from the perspective of a woman?

Men experience the world very differently from women, particularly when it comes to social interactions. Just because YOU haven’t had too much of a problem with this patient doesn’t mean that your female coworkers have experienced the same thing.

You will need a bank account to do pretty much anything in adult life. So, I would recommend opening an account at a local credit union. Credit unions are small and owned by their members, so they won’t sell your info to anyone or send you ads. There are many other pros to using a credit union instead of a large bank, but privacy is a big one.

That actually sounds like a pretty cool job! I only said something because unfortunately a lot of people tend to use that fact to put down reusable bags, which sucks because even though they’re far from perfect, they’re still the better alternative (assuming you don’t buy a new one every time you go to the store).

It’s important to note though that emissions are not the only thing to consider. My state banned single-use plastic bags a few years ago, and the number of them you see caught in trees or thrown away as litter has dropped to almost zero.

Plus, I think you could absolutely use those bags 400 times if you make good use of them. A few of the ones I have are from at least a decade ago and have probably been used far more times than that.

I’m currently in engineering undergrad and this looks like it’ll be a lifesaver. Wolfram Alpha can do some pretty good work with units sometimes. But a lot of the time it’ll do weird stuff like refuse to interpret “V” as “volt”, so you have to type out the full name of every single unit. This language should handle that a million times better.

No, because frequency is a fundamental quality of a wave. Things that are affected by one frequency could also be affected by another in certain cases (such as when two frequencies are integer multiples), but the waves themselves will never affect each other.

As an analogy, imagine playing a specific note on a flute. It doesn’t matter how many other notes you play, that original note will always be there alongside the others.

That’s pretty insane, because that’s barely 1/3 of what the USA spends on its military alone every year. I think we can do better than 2%, these people won’t even notice.

(To be clear though, anything would be better than nothing. The chances of even a measley 2% tax getting passed is slim to none, and those chances get smaller the higher the tax is, so anything we can get is a win.)

Because the person you replied to is acting purposely obtuse? It’s clear that the OP was asking what is done with any non-organic materials that may be inside a person when they die. Are they removed? Are they left to be buried in the ground? What about cremation, do they burn the body with any of that inside? That’s pretty obvious to anyone with above a 5th grade reading comprehension, so a snarky reply is unwarranted and obnoxious.

Well yeah. The concensus at the time was that light is a wave, and waves need a medium to travel through, so they just made up some stuff that must be everywhere and called it the aether. The null result of the interferometer experiment is part of what led to the discovery that light is a particle that acts like a wave, and so doesn’t need a medium.

Well, yes, as far as our theories go. But we also “knew” that light was a wave that traveled through the luminiferous aether, which permiated all of space… Until we tested that theory with the Michelson-Morely experiment, and it turned out our theories were completely wrong and physics as we knew it was completely upended.

Point being, it’s important to actually test our theories instead of assuming they’re completely correct just because most of their predictions are accurate.
