If your company uses some sort of code checking tool on PRs, there may be a requirement that all functions have a docstring, even if it’s obvious what it’s doing. Leads to silly comments like this quite often

No arguments there, if you’re gonna depend on a piece of code, you better own it or have a rock solid plan b.
left-pad was the first thing that came to mind for me
There needs to be exactly two groups involved in deciding to terminate a pregnancy: The pregnant person, and their medical team, with the pregnant person’s choices taking precedence over everyone else’s. If they want an abortion, they get one. If the doctors believe that the pregnancy is non-viable or carries an extreme risk to the parent, then the decision to terminate should be made only by the pregnant person.
It would be similar to the self-defense laws in many red states, they’re so loose that charges almost never stick if there’s any possibility that it was self defense.
And the doctors now risk getting arrested and having their mugshot published for everyone to see, having to go to court to fight it, possibly spending time in jail while waiting for trial. There’s a saying “You may beat the rap, but you won’t beat the ride”.
At least we now get to decide when to stop fasting :)
Yeah, we’re aware that the laws of thermodynamics must be followed. The study clearly showed that if you set CI to zero, and CO remains nonzero, you lose weight.
For me, if I’m 100% sober, I sleep fine. If I have 5 or 6 beers or white wine only, no more and no less, I sleep great. If I have 1-4 drinks, 6 or more, or red wine/liquor, I sleep like absolute shit. This only really counts if I have them right up until I go to bed. If I have my drinks earlier in the day and nothing from say suppertime onward, I usually sleep fine.
However, if I drink more than a couple days in a row, I sleep like shit regardless of how much I have and it takes about 4 days of no alcohol until I sleep well again. As a result, I really only drink on Friday and Saturday nights, with some exceptions for long weekends and vacations, which are offset by taking dry months every now and then.
charcoal (and probably propane) grills. Poor quality craps out so quick
Weber kettles are fantastic in this regard. They’re not super expensive brand new and can be downright cheap secondhand, but if you take care of them they’ll last decades. Also, Weber is pretty good about their warranty, and replacement parts can be found in most bog box hardware stores
Wild when you also consider that some of the ‘incorrect translations’ may have been on purpose to satisfy the intent of the king/pope who ordered the translation be printed.
I do test automation, getting a particularly difficult test scenario working in automation is 🤌
yeah, 98 was trash. 98SE was good
