Silly little pan guy.
Risa is a pleasure planet in the show. Basically a planet that bases its entire economy on tourism and pleasing others. In all ways. Yes. Even that one.
I get excited that I have a girlfriend. Although I don’t know what she wants with my game saves. 🤷🏻♂️
I’m low tech and simple. I just keep the receipts in the glovebox.
Couldn’t any features they add be copied by other instances?
Damn! You’re right.
Please don’t be me. I can barely keep track of myself as it is.
If I become a celebrity, you can dunk on me.
I’ll just start making accounts for every instance on the system so nobody can ever pretend to be me. Easy. 🤷🏻♂️
The final update message given out on RIF suggested Lemmy.World and so, here I am.
Does it matter?
As I have found with a few niches I’ve been looking for and only found communities on other instances, it may matter. I can see this post even though I am on Lemmy.World and not Lemmy.ml; but some of the other places I’ve wanted to look at are not federated with Lemmy.World or are semi-private and require manual authorization by an admin before you can do anything; and they can’t authorize a user that doesn’t interact with them somehow so I had to make a new account for those instances.
Or when he is returning.
“Very funny, Piglet. Now beam me up my pants.”
I kinda want to know how the API works that would allow for this jank. But not enough to go out of my way to learn something I will never use again 🤷🏻♂️
Wasn’t aspartame also linked to liver failure in the 90’s? 🤔
Someone saw the RIF is also working again, but only to view content; it won’t allow you to log in.
I don’t see how they can really take over in a system that’s open source and anyone willing can create their own instance. If they start taking control of a large, established base and pisses that base off, they can just collectively make and move to a new instance, walling the previous one off from the federation by blocking it.
Sure. WiFi is just using radio waves, and if the software is advanced enough, you could potentially use wifi signals as a form of radar to map things. Not sure how great the resolution could potentially be though.
Going by what the FAQ said the difference was, Active seems the better choice for discussion/engagement, while Hot is good for just scrolling through posts and not engaging with the community.
I will likely prefer Active for that very reason, but right now I’m mostly in New just trying to see what communities are out there and have other users.
When I was 19, I worked on the Pride of America cruise ship. I got on board the last week or two it was in dry dock finishing construction. One of those weeks, they tested the PA system extensively. They did this by playing Queen’s “Radio Ga-Ga” on loop, 24/7. For a week. And there were PA speakers in my cabin.
You ever see a comedy where they do “psychological torture” by playing an unpopular song? This was that, but for real. Every time I hear that fucking song now, I have PTSD flashbacks. The saddest thing was, when I first heard it played there, it was the first time I ever heard it period and I kind of liked it.
But that ship has sailed.
Give it 15 years.
I’ve been online since 1990; 10-15 years seems to be the maximum time a community can live without shitting itself over greed or something new and better coming along to scoop up users.
That said, things like Usenet and IRC still technically exist… They’re just niche now. The way this shit works is more like those, so it will likely never fully disappear.
It can go one higher (AO). They wouldn’t want it to tho.
