Canada has far less freedom of speech than the US. They’re also able to halt it by public announcement.
The Ottawa trucker movement exposed a lot of this.

Not a bad compromise. I hadn’t thought about the use case of wanting to block people personally without affecting the community.
Totally agree and I have a hunch on who the mod was but that doesn’t really matter to me much. I’m not asking anyone to unmask them.
That said, was there really not a single other candidate available that didn’t “need” to become anonymous?
No more anonymous alt mod accounts please.
I still don’t understand why there wasn’t a single other user on this instance that could have been modded without legal worries. Really felt like a copout to go anonymous and slowly transition the rest of the team to alt accounts as well.
I don’t see how this can work when the mod(s) are switching to anonymous accounts. Would the latest fresh alt mod account really be a new person or would it the previous mod with a new alt name?
He “ended” Afghanistan with seemingly no plan and just abandoned large amounts of weapons and supplies that are now unaccounted for in a volatile region.
I think the public would have been okay with a longer timeframe if they had made efforts to render more things inert or ship them back. It may not be the most cost effective compared to replacement, but its better than just shoving more weapons into the region with no accountability.
It’s only going to get worse now that the mods are using fresh alt accounts.
“…and nobody is paying attention…”
This is something we read and hear about every single day. Not sure how much more attention we could give it.
Lots of actual calls for violence on here and people screaming nazi at anyone who casually disagrees with them.
Reporting the calls for actual IRL violence does nothing, mods don’t seem to respond or take action.

It exposed Canada’s lack of freedom of expression and right to assemble. Many of the protestors were chuds, but you still have to follow the law when dealing with them.
Freedom of expression can be halted by public announcement, it isn’t a guarantee.
