I didn’t have any real problems with the actual story of the Acolyte, but what did put me off most was the insane pacing and strange edits in that show, there was rarely a moment of rest to give viewers time to let stuff sink in. Some episodes also cut-off very suddenly to a credit roll, it was just jarring. And a lot of scenes felt like they were supposed to be a lot longer and could’ve benefitted from a lot more dialogue.

I’m unsure why they did so, because most episode could’ve easily been like 20-30 minutes longer to make at least 1 hour episodes. I think they might’ve cut a lot and saved it for either flashbacks in a potential second season (especially the Qimir stuff) or decided they wanted to change it later.

The whole editing and pacing reminds me a lot of Rise of Skywalker, the entire movie felt like they crammed 2 or even 3 movies into one.

Getting flashbacks to the Acolyte reviewbombs dropping before the episodes even aired.

Good to see some OG aliens in there, Disney kept adding almost exclusively new aliens and then only use those for a lot of their stuff.

Lol, could’ve been some wild fan theory. I guess it’s just a weird scene at the end of TROS that feels like they could’ve left out.

That’s the first time I’m hearing about it. I guess this was in some visual dictionary, behind the scenes or a novel then?

I thought the Lando movie would involve old Lando (Billy Dee) after TROS, since they heavily implied at the end of TROS that he and the black girl (can’t remember her name at all) were going to look for something.

But I’m good with Glover playing another major Lando role, he absolutely nailed it in Solo.

Damn what a shame. Even though he was never on screen in Star Wars, he is still the most iconic actor just because of his voice.

They purposefully kept a few stories open, like the Qimir one. Perhaps she could’ve played another role in that. Or more of the twins flashbacks.

Are you talking about Carrie-Anne Moss? Because she was still extensively featured in a few more episodes and played a relatively important role.

I’d even imagine that if the Acolyte would’ve gotten another season she’d maybe returned for more.

The problem is that people then base their entire opinion of the show on an incomplete story.

It’s fine if people don’t like a show and don’t want to continue watching it. But people judging an entire show based on only one or a few episodes, or just on social media ragebait, shouldn’t be taken seriously. And I feel like exactly the latter has been happening with this one a lot.

Sadly a lot of people are easily convinced by communities circlejerking and dogpiling on this kind of stuff these days.

And the amount of people downvoting and not engaging in the conversation pretty much confirms that 🙄

Honestly it’s kind of infuriating how many people were drawing conclusions after barely watching the show, or the many people that clearly never bothered to watch at all and based their entire opinions exclusively on social media ragebait. And this no doubt also contributed a lot to poor viewer stats.

The show wasn’t excellent by any means, it could’ve been so much better, but I didn’t feel like it was that bad as a lot of people made it seem like. And it definitely needs one to watch the entirety of it before drawing any conclusions considering the story and character developments.

Good example was people complaining about the fact that Carrie-Anne Moss’s character being killed off within 5 minutes in the first episode, yet they didn’t even bother to think about or wait for the fact that she could appear in more episodes through flashbacks. Clearly the show was made around misguiding viewers and infamous “subverting expectations”.

It’s a shame the show has to end this way, but at least the main story about the twins feels semi-complete. But unfortunately also a lot of open endings still, which are maybe better left like this, or perhaps wrapped up in novels or something.

I don’t think I’ll ever use it considering it was already easily possible with flexbox, and before that (although dirtier) with tables as well.

Oh yeah I don’t mind the concept. It’s just that it looks so much like what we see on Earth that it almost seems out of place in SW.

Looking forward to it though, there can never be enough universe/world-building for me with SW.

The whole trailer didn’t scream Star Wars vibe to me, but it’s still a clearly Star Wars themed show. Probably because we practically never seen very Earth-like suburbs in SW before. Gonna be interesting to see more universe building from this point of view, I like the adventure type of show they are going for.

Guess it’s difficult for people to get into the show. As the first episode really isn’t that good or interesting to be fair. Most other episodes are excellent though.

I bet lots of people also turn it down because they heard/read it doesn’t involve lightsabers or the force, or any big characters from the franchise needing to carry the show. Which honestly makes it much more interesting.

I often recommend the show to others. But it seems like very few catch on. It’s similar with Rogue One being probably the best SW movie in the last decade, but hardly got the attention it deserved.
