That’s a good one, but I believe OP wants it to be personalized to their area
I mean, you could probably put a short version of your title like “How Polluted Are Our Waterways”, but you should have a tighter title that’s not a question like “Our Polluted Waterways and the Threat They Pose”.
One of the major silent qualifications for posts like these are “if you read/speak English and have a standard keyboard layout”.
Which is sad. I had an Egyptian friend who told me he had to use Linux in English because the Arabic support wasn’t quite there. This wasn’t a problem for him, but would have been a non-starter for his family.
Maybe he was confused? Most people just try on sweaters at or near the rack, if they try them on at all.
This once happened to me, thankfully for only a few hours rather than days. I woke up one morning to a fwipping noise in my ear, went to the bathroom to see if I could flush it out with water, and a spider just dangled on a line out of my ear.
It was strange, but not really scary. Jumping spiders are harmless to humans, and this one was only a millimeter or so big.
Almost certainly it originated from pen and paper shorthand. The internet has a lot of history in regard to it potentially being due to T9 slang, but I remember it being shown to me before cellphones were in wide use.
Discord and YouTube are my two holdouts. The YouTube algorithm understands me too well and the amount of content on the platform is too insane for me to quit, but I could leave Discord (I’m never on it anyway)
Have you told them about our lord and savior Pixelfed?
Having the output of each thing you tried would help us get a feel for where your code was messing up without us having to run it ourselves to get the output.
That said, for code snippet 1, you’re inserting the letter instead of replacing the underscore with the letter. Not only that, but your for-loop essentially does the following:
chosen_word
guess
is in the above loop
display
array and add guess
that many times (effectively doubling the `display array)Your second code snippet does the same thing, but with actual formatting so that Python could run the code.
I believe your third code snippet introduces char
but then returns to letter
. It might work if you replaced char
with letter
again. Also += letter
will add the letter to the end of display
, which is not what you want to do.
I did my own version of Hangman in Python a couple years ago if you want to look at the code and see what I did. I’m just a hobbyist, so it’s not fantastic, but it might give you an idea of how someone else has approached the problem.
The online Etymology Dictionary cites Oll Korrect, but says popularity is from President Martin Van Buren’s reelection bid, based on his old nickname, ‘Old Kinderhook’. https://www.etymonline.com/word/OK#etymonline_v_2557
Ironically enough, this is also the code that is perplexing Elon Musk over at X Twitter
I used Linux as my daily driver and set up homelabs for various things I wanted (Nextcloud, Jellyfin, Home Assistant, ActivityPub self server, etc).
Everything else just came organically from there.
My partner and I are on the Duo plan because there are only two of us. The price is going from $13 to $15, so it’s not just the family plan that’s getting raised.
There are a couple paths you could take. You could go the Angel Beats! route where this limbo is a way to come to terms with death, or you could go full power fantasy and have him take on the God of the underworld/limbo and take his place.
Because I have ADHD and have interest in my local politics.
I would also like to see a study on why the discrepancy, but it certainly seems accurate based on my experience.

My podcasts fall into two groups:
Linux/Tech
Urbanism
They release on almost a daily schedule, so I always have something to listen to.
Yeah, I was wondering why they were going to continue with such a dangerous mission after all the bad press Boeing has been getting lately. Sunk cost fallacy, maybe?
