  • That’s fair, I just like windows and that’s really all there is to it. I’ve had a few Linux installs in the past, but never really found an advantage to anything except compiling this one specific python library, but these days I can do that very easily running WSL, VS code SSH’d to my server or more recently a jupyter server that I can connect to from any device with a web browser.

Now macOS on the other hand, I absolutely despise. It was one of the first OS’s I learnt to use back in primary school, and now that I have to use it for work I have absolutely no nice things to say. Unintuitive, missing basic features and slow to navigate, and I can assure you that none of this is due to unfamiliarity…

  • The huge caveat here is assuming gravity is quantised in the same way as the other forces, gravitons don’t need to exist for gravity to exist. This is just the beauty argument of string theory with a new name, it’s cool and I love this type of stuff because it’s amazingly satisfying, but that’s not enough to make it reality.

Don’t get me wrong, this is still useful work but I kinda hate the way quanta reports on a lot of physics…

  • Interesting, which commercial machines are you referring to?

I did a little research when I bought mine, I think mostly vacuum wars testing, and I think they found similar results, with the commercial systems just having larger tanks. That said, I don’t expect their tests are super scientific or anything so I’m legitimately curious.

My carpets aren’t thick at all though, and most of what I’m cleaning is exclusively surface level anyway.

  • There’s plenty of bad shit here too.

The country voting to not recognise that the traditional owners deserve a voice.

Our government continuing to fuel the climate apocalypse.

Housing affordability is locking basically every young person out of the market.

A lot of my friends are losing their jobs because the economy says they aren’t profitable enough to employ.

Federal and state governments enacting policies to make it harder for independents to challenge them by restricting funding.

    Fucking NIMBYs everywhere.

Detention centres still exist for some fucking reason.

  • Edit: The below is all wrong, I’m good at abstract maths and really shit at numbers, forgive me.

I think you missed me saying “compared to a single human life.” Sure, there’s no way literally everyone will get “the best possible life” or something, but a single person has very roughly 5×109×1010÷10^2 is 5×10^17 attempts assuming a 100 year life span.

And you only have to get it once, ultimately the probability depends on whatever the criteria here is, which frankly I don’t know, assuming it just means “is a billionaire” that’s around a 2×10^-7 chance each time, assuming 2000 ish billionaires in a 10^10 population.

I tried plugging this into a binomial calculator but it couldn’t process it, but regardless that’s going to be some really good chances.
