As of the recent Lemmy update I’ve been having a bit of issues but it’s still running ok. Definitely some bugs creeping in but hopefully the devs feel less burnt out soon and can keep it working, even if they aren’t upgrading.
Yeah from my brief reading it seems they can adapt to food salinity by altering their urine concentrations so I don’t think that’s a huge factor, at least it’s not something that comes into play before the other factors begin to harm them. But if you could fix their skin and buoyancy, diet may start to matter. But their prey is also a different salinity than the water it lives in a lot of the time, and sometimes they eat land animals like birds and such ofc.
There is still a bit of the Finless Porpoise left there, but not dolphins specifically no.
There are types of freshwater river dolphins in the Yangtze (well, one of these species probably is extinct there as of recently but still) and the Amazon, for example. Sea dolphins can survive in freshwater for awhile but their skin isn’t adapted to it, and it will get damaged eventually. That and the difference in buoyancy in sea water vs freshwater leads to the sea dolphins eventually getting exhausted in freshwater.
Another question - you said things are going backwards. When do you feel that things were better, and what made that time practically better in terms of not objectifying people?
Is it? Or is it to allow people to indulge in and express sexuality outside of a relationship? I don’t think it has a singular purpose of objectifying people. If people take it that way I think it’s more indicative of a problem with their attitude that they may need help to reframe.
Do violent shows or horror movies make you feel human life is worth less because it shows people getting hurt or murdered?
I agree that doesn’t seem healthy. Misogyny is nothing new, though, and in your post you said people are reducing themselves to sexual objects but the example is people reducing others to sexual objects, which is not really the fault or necessarily the intention of the person being objectified
In what way do you see embracing sexuality as contradictory to being a whole human? Can you give examples?
The spacing or the stickers? The spacing maybe so he can see out the back of that window
Hi gkd,
Some random issues with Memmy have been cropping up in the last month, things like issues loading old inbox messages and replies, certain communities not showing up in the subscription list intermittently (within the same instance I am on so seemingly not a federation issue), and embedded image formatting issues causing the app to freeze. Not sure if it’s just having trouble with the latest updates to lemmy.world or what.
Hope you are well and have been able to get some rest, unfortunately I may have to switch apps for now but I am looking forward to when you have more time and energy to work on this wonderful app again!
Can you be more specific about what you feel should be changed?
Are you very low on time? I see this happen to people who feel they just don’t have enough time to get everything done that they need to, and therefore any little delay causes a lot of stress. If you can offload some chores or reduce your activity load that may be some help. But there are other reasons for irritability as well.
Also a lot of typhoid and stomach flu type pathogens don’t spread butthole to butthole, they spread via the “fecal-oral” route so… that happens in situations like someone took too small a slice and touches your food (or receipt that you ate to prove they liked your gift) without washing their hands properly.
I’m ashamed it took us this long
It would be cool to be able to just combine the content at the user level. You could have all the gaming communities you like under a custom gaming label, with a filter that checks for duplicate titles or links (wouldn’t be perfect but decent) and imports in the comments from duplicate threads (with some subheadings or something to distinguish their origin)
It’s really hard to be optimistic and solutions-oriented at times…
Natural selection like that only occurs if you die before you get a chance to reproduce, a lot of the diseases affecting the obese kill you a bit later than that. And of course it’s not just a genetic thing either.
Fair criticism, and in regards to minerals especially, I totally failed to mention the need for herbivores to have access to literal rocks and dirt rich in different minerals that aren’t readily available in plant. In captivity, this takes the form of mineral blocks of course.
Also pugs, or Scottish fold cats… and those are creatures we love and keep as pets, not even livestock, and we still do it
