What an incredibly dubious url…
What an incredibly dubious url…
Yeah, it happens everywhere, all the time. And the main cause of it is, surprise surprise, people who have no technical understanding of the subject matter.
Just play faster, but not TOO fast.
Eh, is the US currently invading its third sovereign nation with the goal of annexing it, and committing genocide in the process?

And the thing is, we see it happen in the US all the time. That company that promised launching a rocket every other day is a recent example.
Oh, but they’re DEFINITELY doing well. They’re totally on schedule for an unmanned moonlanding in… checks notes… Q1 2024.
Neither artillery shells nor missiles tend to be packed full of fragile scientific instruments, solar panels, people, or liquids.
If your goal is only to launch solid cubesats, this might work, otherwise it’s nonsense.
How did you calculate 8200 m/s?
I looked at a delta-v chart, which mostly list 9000-10000 for 250km orbits. I subtracted 10% from the one on Wikipedia for an absolute minimum.
Also your length of the railgun exceeds the atmosphere,
That rather speaks against the concept, wouldn’t you say?
1: you need to launch something at 8200m/s to get into low earth orbit. That’s not counting air resistance, or equatorial benefits, so let’s ignore both.
2: gravity acceleration is 10 meters per per second. So 5 time gravity is 50 meters per second per second (50m/s^2). An aircraft carrier catapult accelerates at about 4g, but let’s go with 5.
3: to launch something into orbit, from a railgun at 5g, you need to accelerate for 8200/50=164 seconds. Your average speed will be 4100m/s for 164 seconds.
4: a 5g orbital railgun will have to be 4100x164=672km long. And probably still crush any sattelite you want to put on it.
5: if you just want to use as a boosting step, a 10km long railgun will boost you at 5g for 20 seconds, making your final speed all of 1000m/s at ground level.
Conclusion: China is lying, or stupid.
To quote an old teacher: “there hasn’t been a counter so dirty a little benzene can’t clean it!”
Aqua regia and safety squint!
A common beauty hack is to match your lipstick colour to the colour of your nipple, so yeah.
That’s extremely cultural, and doesn’t even stand up to the a historical test. I doubt it would carry over across planets. (Works great for TV audience though)
Both! No wait…
Charged water before the TV,
Hah, i know at least one American preacher and one Dutch medium who did the same nonsense. Seems like it was quite the fad.
Beliefs can’t, but those beliefs generally come from somewhere, and those books tend to be full of testable claims.
And those tests generally fail, meaning we can only assume those sources are not really literally true. And if they’re not true, you’re really just making stuff up as you go along and assuming things are true as you see fit.
Now, there’s nothing wrong with making stuff up, I do it all the time for table top gaming. But I don’t base my worldview on the stuff I just imagine into being
Deism isn’t incompatible with science, but any god who does stuff can be tested. Since I’ve never seen a single paper published showing any evidence for any god, I can only assume that either no gods exist, or they don’t do anything. For me, those are basically the same thing.
You can be all sorts of religious and be a scientist.
But the moment you start to claim anything from one of the popular holy books is literally true, you become a massive hypocrite.
But there is no disconnect between deism and science.
And this is why, while you can have smart Christians, you really can’t have smart biblical literalist.
And that question is “why isn’t your skin the same colour as mine?”
Lemmy laughing at crypto bros is pretty normal.
