Episode 3 was just to make us ask questions that would be answered in episode (I think) 7. They didn’t set this up very well though. It was presented too genuinely, and people didn’t realize we were seeing through the flawed eyes of a child narrator.
I just feel like too many shows I’ve been watching lately hasn’t been worth the slog to get through, and it’s been killing my excitement for franchises.
I feel this. I also haven’t bothered with House of the Dragon. Or the LotR show.
PLAGUEIS.
Okay so is Darth Bortles Plagueis’s apprentice, or is Plagueis hunting down Darth Bortles?
Are we to understand that Osha/Mae are the blueprint that Plagueis uses to learn to create life, the experiment that leads to the creation of Anakin?
I like the idea that Osha/Mae were able to be created because they are balanced. One is light while one is dark. As Mae learns to forgive, Osha is pushed to the dark side. And while Osha was training to be a Jedi, Mae agreed to be Darth Bortles’s acolyte immediately.
Plagueis attempting to create and prolong life from the Dark alone triggers, accidentally, the Force to create Anakin to bring balance. IIRC that’s what we see in the book Plagueis, which is of course no longer canon.
I don’t think anyone who sat down and watched through the first 3 episodes can honestly say the show is being review bombed.
I can understand why people decided after the third episode that the show was bad, but I think that reaction was short-sighted and impatient.
A lot of the reviews decrying the third episode completely miss what I thought was very obvious in that episode: we were seeing the events through a single perspective, that of a child who is missing a significant amount of context. The “plot holes” are on purpose, to make the audience say, “Nah, that doesn’t add up.” Because it doesn’t.
Sure enough, in episode 7 we see the same events from more perspectives and, surprise, it makes a lot more sense. We get to see through the lies of the Jedi.
I’m not trying to say The Acolyte is perfect, but it’s a damn sight better than 3/10 or whatever IMDB has it as right now. And it brought a lot of cool stuff from Legends onto the screen.
I enjoyed the ride. The easter eggs were fun, the fight choreography was as solid, and Manny Jacinto is amazing.
Memory wipe is new to the current canon, but it has existed in Star Wars “legends” previously.
It’s extremely rare, not particularly well known, difficult to work with, and not very durable. You saw how Darth Bortles’s helmet sustained lightsaber hits but broke from a punch. It has limited usefulness, but Sith armor is one use.
If by “the lightsaber thing” you mean them shorting out, that was awesome. The helmet and wrist guards were made of Cortosis, and I’m happy to see them bring stuff in from the EU.
If the series ended at 5, I’d be mad, because we need to see alternate viewpoints of 3.
I understand. I suggest giving it another chance when it’s finished and you can binge it. I suspect as a complete product it will be better than individual episodes.
But this is 200 years before the fall.
To be pedantic, it’s 132 BBY. So 115 years before the fall.
After 4 episodes, I am now convinced we’ve seen the best this show has to offer and it’s only going to get worse.
I dunno about you, but I thought episode 5 was awesome. Also I’m really excited to see the other side of the story we saw in episode 3. I suspect this show will be better as a binge rather than weekly, because we’ve been burned enough times that we’re quick to assume plot holes are mistakes rather than purposeful setup.
This isn’t the best Star Wars show, but I’m liking it.
I’ve been enjoying it. There are a few things that feel like plot holes right now, but I suspect that’s because we’re only seeing one perspective, and we’re supposed to think it doesn’t all add up. And when we see the other perspective it’ll make sense.
It’s no Andor, but I like it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more of her in flashback scenes later in the season. Some bad juju went down with her and the other three Jedi on the Acolyte’s hit list, and I’m betting we’ll get to see some of that bad juju.
I mean, you do you, our time is precious and there’s no point wasting it. But I enjoyed the first two episodes and am looking forward to the rest.
Edit: You sure you don’t just want more Carrie-Ann Moss because of the similarity in name to firemoss? C’mon Teft, you’re better than that.
There’s an orange sabre to validate Rey’s sabre.
Both Rey and Yord wield yellow lightsabers, which don’t require validation as they’ve been part of the Star Wars canon for a while. Just not in live-action.
KORAH MATAH!
KORAH RAHTAMAH!
(I just got done performing this piece in three concerts in 26 hours, between May 3rd and 4th. 😅)
Podracing is fucking awesome, a beautiful homage to old-school Formula 1, and I will fight anyone who doesn’t like it. 😉

Fun story I’ve told on Reddit previously. I got to sing in a John Williams tribute concert with my local symphony orchestra years ago. On the last day of our performance, I convinced the basses around me to sing “Corn on the cob, corn on the kebab” (though I like corncob much more).
I’m singing in a Star Wars specific concert this May. Might try the same shenanigans!
Ah, yep. I have very little knowledge of keyboards in other parts of the world, unfortunately.
