Not while fusion is 30 years away. They’ll wait until it’s closer to 2 years.
Not while fusion is 30 years away. They’ll wait until it’s closer to 2 years.
A reactor that produces enough of its own fuel… It’s starting to sound like a perpetual motion machine.
It was 30 years away in the 1950s and still is.
Controlled fusion is harder than we thought & may be harder than we think.
Stay in school kids. Study Physics & Engineering!
This is how we arrive at the “always 30 years away” trope.
Once the top 1% are eaten, there will be a (slightly poorer) new top 1%. We’ll eat them. Eventuallt we will all rise to the top and be eaten. Thus, the circle of life will continue.
We still don’t know anything other than wild hand waving speculation about the eventual costs of fusion power. The ultimate solution may require a ton of unobtanium-spice alloy that has been tempered in a midoclorian bath. We have no F-ing clue what it’ll cost. But I can guarantee that there will be state sponsored conspiracy theories about all aspects of it. So let’s wait before we start fighting over the conspiracies. They are not ripe yet.
It’s wwaaaaaaaayyy to soon to be speculating about power bills. A practical power plant is probably still about 30 years away.
We don’t know that it will be cheaper. We still don’t really know that it will be possible.
C is hotter than K, and F is a mess.
Richard Stallman is the patron saint of Open Source. Stallman, like all “saints” is a pig headed extremist who is maniacally single minded. I’m very glad he came along.
Capitalism is not millennia old. Capitalism (as commonly defined) only stared to take root after the black death (1350ish) flipped feudalism on its head. Suddenly the free and unfree peasant class had some control of their own destiny and could sell their skills to whomever they wanted at whatever price they could get. Serfs could declare themselves free. Land was often up for grabs.
Alas, the alternative to capitalism has never been socialism, but feudalism.
Ahhh, Excentrica Gallumbits. I remember her fondly.
The rise in interest rates meant easy money dried up for corporations. They all had to “monitize” at the same time. That’s why enshitification happened everywhere at the same time. Things are easing. Enshitification will slow down.
It’s not even a concious conspiracy, it’s just the result of “the attention economy”.
Um, no, that’s not at all what it’s saying. It is saying China should ease off the cronie capitalism and try a little socialism for ordinary people.
Did OP edit their comment? Because calling Xi “Winnie” is not racist.
Spook = ghost (aka a soul unhoused a living body)
