Creating drafts for white papers my boss asks for every week about stupid shit on his mind. Used to take a couple days now it’s done in one day at most and I spend my Friday doing chores and checking on my email and chat every once in a while until I send him the completed version before logging out for the weekend.
Is that a Lib thing now? When I was growing up in a super rural conservative area I always heard if you don’t like America you’re free to leave. Like progressive change is a cancer or something.
I trained myself over years after realizing stress was killing me, I was unpredictable to be around, and struggled to eat with any regularity which led to really bad eating habits.
What ended up working is when something would happen that upset me I would close my eyes, take a deep breath, go to a room by myself and just sit down with my eyes closed and do box breathing until my nerves settled. Then when I opened my eyes I would say to myself, ok let’s go get this mud cleaned up.
Admittedly it doesn’t work in a car, crowded location, or even work necessarily. Over years my impulse control and roll with the punches attitude really developed. Maybe too much, when my ex wife said she wanted a divorce it was kind of just an “ok, do you want me to move out or did you plan to? I’ll see what paperwork we need to fill out “.
I enjoy life so much more though. My dog peed in the laundry room shortly after coming inside and I remember a time when I would have been incredulous about it. My response was to chuckle and say “oh buddy you know not to pee inside”, grap a swiffer and throw the pad in the load of wash I was starting.
Maybe I just got older, life experience and all that. I do think the separation from what happened and box breathing exercise really helped me in being able to put things into context and just let life be life though.
Their description makes it sound like a pump glass so I’m going with that

Politicians have straight up said it’s a reason they are against abortion…

I’ve held off because that’s the best recommended one I’ve always landed on but it doesn’t use a basket. My stove also has a small top oven already but I know the air fryer would be awesome. The only people I know that have them have basket models and I’m worried I will have buyers remorse if I end up with just a third oven that sits on my countertop.
They were planning ahead
Does that headline not read war crime to you somehow?
I’m surprised they still had people auditioning, that’s dedication.
I had one when I lived in Japan. It filled the tank by running water out of a little faucet and the mini sink drained into the tank. If I recall the water stream was pretty small and low pressure. It was on a western style toilet so you had the toilet bowl in front of you in the way also. It’s been twenty years ago so my memory is a bit foggy but I remember not using it for much.
Existing without my consent (consent can be revoked at any time).
I had to fill out a form and get a laminated tag for my sons bookbag that identifies him as a Walker so staff know why he’s just bouncing after school. I don’t want anything bad to happen to my son obviously but I remember being able to just do my own thing growing up (80s-90s) and I believe it did wonders for my development, decision making, and confidence.
I’m glad I have the option to let him do something that I just assumed was still relatively normal. I had no idea walking home from school wasn’t a thing for a lot of schools anymore.
That’s crazy…four blocks away and he couldn’t walk.
We’re in the US and my son has been walking home from school since he was six. It’s only a two mile walk. In the mornings I drive him up to half a mile from the school on my way to work. They don’t have bike racks at schools anymore it seems otherwise he’d ride his bike. On a few occasions I’ve had him walk to school also. His older brother goes to the bus and back but that’s only half a mile away. They regularly go roam the neighborhood alone or with each other.
Energy drinks (EDs) are sweetened beverages that contain multiple stimulants such as caffeine, guarana, or taurine.
…
The results of this study reveal that the consumption of a single, bodyweight-adjusted ED dosage is linked with a significantly higher median 24-h SBP (+5.26 mmHg) and DBP (+3.45 mmHg), compared to a placebo beverage, in healthy children and adolescents. A meta-analysis by Conen et al. suggests that an increase of 10 mmHg in 24-h SBP is connected with a 27% higher risk for cardiovascular events.38 In addition, a population-based study by Hansen et al. indicates that an increase of 5 mmHg in 24-h DBP is associated with a 27% higher risk for cardiovascular disease.39 Therefore, the ED-induced alterations in the pediatric 24-h blood pressure profile displayed in this study can be considered alarming.
Moreover, chronic ED consumption could result in arterial hypertension and hence increased left ventricular afterload, ultimately leading to left ventricular dysfunction and hypertrophy.16 A previous publication conducted by our department reported a significantly lower cardiac efficiency after acute ED consumption in healthy children and adolescents.16 Furthermore, many EDs contain high amounts of sugar and thus “empty” calories. Chronic ED consumption could therefore lead to the onset of glucose metabolism disorders and aggravate weight gain. As ED consumption is associated with a shorter sleep duration,32 it might additionally increase cardiovascular risk.35 In summary, children and adolescents, particularly those with elevated cardiovascular morbidity (e.g., arterial hypertension, diabetes, excess weight), should be discouraged from consuming EDs. Moreover, minors should be made aware of the potential health risks of excessive ED intake as well as responsible ED consumption behaviors.

This person is passionately against something they have convinced themselves they fully understand without having any real idea wtf they are talking about. Reading his comments is reminiscent of my mother arguing to me that cost of living isn’t real, such pointless garbage and she gets upset unless you just nod your head and act enlightened somehow. Reading his comments, he’s convinced himself of how the credit rating system is bad, likely reinforced by misunderstood anecdotal evidence and other ignorant people sharing their anecdotal misunderstood experiences, or even made up hogwash. So much so that he digs his heels in and refuses to learn anything that would even allow him to form a valid critique against the credit rating system, preferring instead to be convinced he is infallible and enlightened while loudly spewing confidently incorrect bullshit.
