Excellent chat option with very elegant construction.

Text messages are instantaneous. Small images (~200KB) are a few seconds. It is not really built for large files, but that can take up to a few minutes.

Images and video are downsampled to a smaller size before sending, to save bandwidth. (Quality holds up well and there is an option to attach as a ‘file’ if full resolution is needed.)

The setup is easy.

I would recommend using it on a dedicated email account, only for DeltaChat usage. See the docs.

Setting ‘delete messages from server’ to ‘after 1 week’ will make sure your online storage is never going to get full. (Server messages can be deleted once transmitted to all clients installs for the recipient)

Turned out to be not a particularly efficacious truth drug, but it is where the term ‘truth serum’ originated from.

I saw a theatrical performace in 1997, called The Peplum by theatre company Royal de Luxe.

It included ‘odorama’, a contraption that looked like a TV studio camera on dolly rails across the front of the stage, that sprayed the audience stands with about 6 different smells throughout the performance.

One of the smells was horse manure, which was a nervous shock for the audience. Yes it smelt like horse poo.

A very memorable performance, because of the smells, but also the exceptional company behind it.

Scopolamine is a truth drug that renders people highly suggestive, unable to lie, and unable to lay down memories whilst under its influence.

Close to zombified.

I still can’t believe this occurred.

I can confirm that the 2hr badminton then 1 hr Dim Sum combo is enjoyable!

As well as game stores and libraries, board game associations have meetups.

We have 5 or more clubs around town. Anywhere from 20-50 people at an event, smart interesting people generally.

Many who face equivalent experiences could benefit immensely by hearing positive advice and encouragement from someone in a similar situation, rather than from well meaning others that may struggle to empathise with their condition.

Recording your thoughts, philosophy and self-motivational inner-talk could be a comfort to many, or just express what it is you need to, it’s your story.

Recording as text, audio, video, or all 3 are options. Get a decent mic and possible pop filter if doing video/audio.

For bit-longevity I’d recommend uploading to archive.org and then link back to the files from there. (Create account 20min, then upload 1hr etc)

To avoid deletion of files by yourself in the future, ask a trusted intermediary friend to upload them and to not tell you the password. (Or send them the login details once you have completed uploading, and they can reset the password to lock it from you) Be explicit about the conditions: eg. the password should not be disclosed under any circumstances, or it should only be disclosed if you demand it for 2 weeks straight, etc.
