Are they going to monitor MPs bank accounts for “security” purposes, company bank accounts for tax evasion, directors bank accounts for bribery/AML? If they think these would be horrible and unworkable then this is too. Absolutely messed up

I was joking but also got depressed when I thought of that as some tories would actually love that. I agree that is the slight glimmer of a positive about her. At least you can have a debate with someone who has a view on something if their goal is still improve the UK, even if misguided.
It is funny that both the left wing and right wing in the UK complain so much about the police “targeting” them more so than the other.
I do think they were very heavy handed during the blm protests and tend to have a soft spot for right wing protests because they themselves are historically right wing, similar to the US I guess. However, they have absolutely no time for these far right football hooligans and they know they are looking for trouble so no matter where they go to “protest” (I.e. drink lots and spew hatred) they tend to have to follow them and contain them from the normal public just going about their lives.
Then it’s fine that he left but he shouldn’t be allowed back in surely?
Already filthy rich by birth. Got his PM pension and now going to get even more public money for fucking up the country’s image internationally even more. But the benefits cheats and disabled people are the problems obviously…
If he came out and said he will follow the will of the people and appoint a pro brexit person to lead a new dept and also lead negotiations, I think he could’ve got away with it. At least he could’ve seen through a transition to a new govt rather than just abandon it everything.
Maybe he shouldn’t have pissed off the brexit crowd with those govt paid leaflets and the support he gave. He should’ve planned something for what would happen if the vote didn’t go his way. We could’ve at least figured out what type of brexit the country wanted as a binary yes - no was not enough.
I see what you mean though, maybe it was just never possible and it was his only option. I just think he caused the most damage to this country ever and somehow is getting away with it with seemingly no consequences. No matter what, he is so linked to this situation in a negative way he should not be in politics anymore, either as a cabinet member or lord
If you watch various videos people posted on social media and not just the news ones (which also showed the same to be fair), it’s really obvious they were looking for fights constantly. They were far right supporters and the old style football fans, drinking heavily and geared up for a fight (balaclavas, weapons etc). They really targeted the police, trying to goad them with chants and look for points of weakness in the lines, and it felt like the majority of people there were doing it or supporting those who were. There were almost no women and non white people. One thing I found funny was they were singing “England till I die” in most videos but in one to an obviously Welsh police unit, and they didn’t see the irony there.
The march was complete opposite, it was a very diverse group of people, actually mainly women, marching through and chanting peaceful messages. They weren’t squaring off to the police who were more on the sidelines. There were some small groups of people ready for fight and squaring off to the police at points or when the counter demonstrators were close but it was such a small minority overall. Even the videos where police took away some of the banners were quite civil. The protesters were arguing back with words only and no pushing and shoving.
I have to say, the police seemed to get it right and helped keep things as peaceful as possible considering the tension. A lot of eyes were on them. It seemed like half the protestors had cameras and there were tons of journalists looking for action.
Why did he leave then straight away and dissappear from public life? He’s completely arrogant and only cares about power. Why didn’t he have a plan is it did go wrong? He’s grossly incompetent. Any half decent government should prepare plans for even unlikely situations if they are possible and would cause so much damage.
What the actual fck! Regardless of your view of brexit, him fcking off for the rest of those c*nts to pretend to have an idea of sorting out his mess tells us all we need to know about his character
Next will be the reanimated corpse of Margaret fcking Thatcher with AI designed by Elon fcking Musk
The US position puts me off a written constitution and I think we’re better off trying to make sure politicians and connected parties are held accountable to act in certain codified ways. I am afraid that having written laws actually makes it easier to find loopholes. Who knows though, nobody seems to have really cracked it!
I’m hard to buy for as I just get what I need during the year when I need/want it and not really fussed about unnecessary crap so everybody just buys me rum, it’s great! Means I don’t have to buy any myself for a few months and they sometimes get me nicer or more interesting stuff than I’d buy myself. My wife often gets me a rum advent calendar which is great to find new rums!
So true, its keeping me slightly more sane (less insane maybe more accurate) about the whole mess
I would vote for them for just this one thing, it’s music to my ears.
We should also publicly name and shame any British resident people who decided, during an international crisis with so many deaths, to decide to make a profit from it. I don’t care whether it was a scam or a “genuine” transaction they should’ve done it at cost for no profit, especially if their normal business was doing fine.
My ex used to work an ice cream factory (Walls I think but not completely sure I remember right). She said she wouldn’t touch mint with a barge pole. Apparently, any wastage from other flavours was chucked in the mint one because mint is such a strong flavour it masks the other flavours.
On a brighter note, in between flavour changes on the equipment, they would spend a whole shift cleaning. For flavours marketed as allergy friendly, they would spend two shifts cleaning, so didn’t need to put “may contain traces of…”
Does that change your mind at all?
That’s the first time I’ve heard ‘flat roof pubs’ and it’s so true and just fucking glorious!
It seems like they are not required but actively encouraged not to have
Me too. All the polls seem to show that Londoners as a whole are very supportive of this. There’s evidence of an issue and this is a way to fix it that has gone through the Democratic process. It was started by BoJo himself which says a lot about the time it’s taken.
Comparing to other countries and other industries is not helpful. If children in London are dying from car pollution we should reduce it. We should also reduce coal burning but that doesn’t mean we have to ignore car pollution, especially as i doubt there are coal power stations in London.
That is interesting, so you would never indicate left (our right) at all?
I like our way (when used correctly) but guess it makes no difference really. Most people are turning right if indicating right so you have to stop. Its just annoying if they are indicating right but go straight and don’t indicate left until too late or not at all, so you didnt to stop. In your case over there, you would do the same if they are not indicating right so you have the same situation really.
First I thought he left because they continue to push for this illegal, expensive and unworkable Rwanda plan but now can see he left because they refused to go far enough and overwrite international law… Just wow
