Good! We need more young people in politics. As climate change becomes an increasingly present issue, I want world leaders to have some real skin in the game, rather than just getting to ignore the consequences for the next 10-20 years before they die.
I do not trust that Hungary has fair and free elections, so I’d be careful with assuming anything of the will of the people.
I don’t really understand, what measures are okay to use? We certainly want to be coercing developing countries to respect rule of law, have free and fair elections, not committing human rights violations, and economic measures seem to be the most effective, nonviolent way to achieve the desired changes. Is the change just that multiple countries must now agree to a sanctioning action, rather than allowing just one country to impose sanctions? If so, certainly understandable why the superpowers dissented.
You can definitely learn basic levels of programming without getting too deep into the math, enough to put together simple programs that can automate small tasks.
The issue is that math is incredibly important for enterprise level programming, particularly for optimization. Programs you write for yourself can be slow, inefficient beasts that hog way more resources than they need. If you wanted to write code as a job though, you’d need to be able to find the line between speed and accuracy, and that can require some complex math.
It’s not necessarily the teachers’ fault. Most of the teachers I’ve talked to legitimately want to help students. The issue is the administrations. I have school counselors who are refusing to write letters of recommendation for full-ride scholarships. Principals who don’t know what a pdf is. Testing coordinators who literally cannot read.
It infuriates me that most of the money that goes to schools ends up in the pockets of these administrative bureaucrats that do not care about children in the slightest. At best they are grossly incompetent, at worst they are actively malicious.
I dunno your country or your premise, but I can state pretty confidently that the American school system is completely and utterly failing to prepare Gen Z. Working adjacent to the schools, even amongst the best and brightest the country has to offer are thousands upon thousands of students who fundamentally do not know how to think for themselves about anything.
All this to say, depending on if you’re in the U.S., things might just keep getting worse. Especially if you’re living in a deeply conservative state, I would not be surprised if the number really was 90%. It’s really sad, but that’s what happens when you attack public schools for decades.
I’d hazard a guess that some of that 70% are racist Tories who think he’s not white enough.
Americans get too excited when they read headlines like this. Nobody voted for Rishi, they voted for the Tories what felt like a decade ago. The Tories have had a revolving door policy, and new rubes keep taking the PM position after the last one leaves/is forced out. Some portion of that 70% are Tory voters who just want another spin on the PM wheel.
Oh yeah, bombing hospitals/schools/refugee corridors is definitely typical of war, and can’t be considered genocide at all. Just look away from all the dead children, it’s just the cost of doing business.
So would you ask people to condemn the civilians of a country based solely on the decisions of their leadership?
Regimes change all the time, what does vilification of non-combatants get you?
Back on the Enterprise they’d just recycle it into Data’s cum tank. I haven’t seen lower decks, is there an android that comes “fully equipped” in this animated series as well?
Who’s going to charge him with a crime? Iraq and Afghanistan both have the most to gain, but good luck getting the U.S. to extradite a former president to sit trial for a foreign power. The U.S. sits on the United Nations security council, so the U.N. can’t do anything. Realistically the only one who could charge him is the U.S. themself, but that would require a formal admission that the wars were unjust. Not to mention, we’re already struggling to arrest a former president who attempted a coup, and potential charges against Bush would be much more difficult.
I’m not gonna sit here and defend either side, because America’s use of Blackwater was just as awful as Russia’s current use of Wagner. However, mercenary forces have been used in warfare for centuries. I don’t know if you can draw a direct line between America’s use and Russia’s current usage, as this article seems to want.
Not only is the answer no, but I’m currently taking a pretty big pay cut to work for a non-profit that I believe in. When you work for scum you start to lose your soul, and it’s hard to have any pride in your work knowing your only contribution is enriching your boss. Now my work goes towards a good cause, and I’m far more motivated to do well at my job.
Wait but…but that means I’m supposed to pronounce it like the sound of slamming metal doors? but it’s for the C language!
am I seriously getting gif’d again?
