It’s a plot device for Dr Who writers to prolong tension. Do I get the job?
Yikes. I’ve never read Asterix and Obelix, but did they really make (I assume) the only black character a straight up knuckle-dragging gorilla imitation? 😬
More like “And I hope you learned not to trust the wellbeing and education of the children entrusted to you to a program that’s not capable of doing either.”
Thought there’s no way this could be true, but I just checked my own copy and, sure enough, there it is. Wild.
Star Wars has pretty much always been more than just movies though. Books, shows, games, etc. That’s what I mean by IP. If you’ve got a better term, feel free to share.
Dunno what I’m supposed to call it in your opinion, but mocking me for it is uncalled for.
Aliens that look remarkably like modern day humans, yah dink (directed at Lucas). While I do think SW was largely progressive for it’s time, the prejudices are readily apparent now. There are somewhat powerful women, but still so often acquiescent story-wise to the male characters who dictate the main plot points.
And characters of color never happen to break into the main character position, do they? They can be badass motherfuckers, and they do get time to shine, but they too sit at the whims of the main characters.
I get George has a different perspective being the age he is, but things change and progress. Star Wars is one of my favorite IPs, but we can acknowledge good things in the past weren’t perfect. It’s how we know we’re improving.
And also with you.
I did the LotR marathon in theaters long ago. Was great fun, but I dunno if I have the patience for that sort of thing now. Might make a point to watch the series at home over the weekend, though. Hope it’s a fun time for those who do go, though!
Nothing is inherently profound.
Arguing with people that something “isn’t art” is what’s pathetic. Art is subjective. Maybe let people enjoy what they enjoy instead of being a massive bellend about it
I love this scene. Taught me what “yak shaving” is and helps me explain it to other people.
unironically requires less training then the vast majority of other jobs.
To elaborate further, it requires less, as in police forces have won lawsuits to specifically hire under-qualified applicants. It’s not just a quirk of a unstructured administration - it is their goal.
Not to say it’s not still impressive, but Dessalines and Nutomic also get grant money from NLNet, or they at least did for a while. Not entirely sure what the status of that is lately. I’d guess donations make up the bulk at this point either way, following the surge in users from last year.

They can’t even properly check their copy on critical infrastructure. Top notch work over there, top to bottom.
