I might misunderstand what you mean with “implementing” an LLM, but unless you have a good understanding of deep learning and math I wouldn’t recommend to implement one from scratch. There’s a lot of complex math involved in these kind of topics. If you mean implementing an application around an existing LLM, for example writing a chat website that interfaces with ChatGPT or a local LLM, then it’s doable (depending on you current skills).

Sounds cool. The types like Haskell’s data types or Rust’s enums compared with proper pattern matching are pretty much a requirement for a good language imo. And the process/message passing is interesting.

Disagree. I used to spend time on more energy-intensive hobbies like programming and music production. But I’ve had mono and COVID in 2020 and I’ve never felt the same thereafter. Also working 40 hours a week drains a lot of energy

Yeah sports were my first attempt to solve it. I’m running twice a week usually and have done a few half marathons now. It’s helped a bit, but my energy is still not amazing. It’s probably related to having issues with mono and COVID in 2020, I’ve never been the same since then. Working 40 hours per week didn’t help either.

Do people really constantly copy-paste code? If I don’t know something I’ll look it up, but then I’ll read the answer and apply it to the code I’m writing rather than copying it directly. I rarely see a piece of code that I can copy over directly into what I’m doing, and even if I can it’s usually not thr best idea because the naming etc would be inconsistent

I like how specifically this relates to my experience with the discount factor gamma in Reinforcement Learning. Like, pretty close to the exact numbers (though missing 0.99 and 0.999)

I’m not sure what the best approach would be, but for reading docx you might be better off using something like Apache POI. Docx may be XML, but it’s imo absolute abuse of XML. POI shields you a little bit from all the nonsense happening in docx. I could see ANTLR working for Typst since there’s probably not another interface for it.

I don’t think it’ll support it, but you could also check if this can be done with pandoc.

I’m aro/ace and I don’t really say anything more than LGBT or LGBT+ myself. I’m not really a fan of the whole alphabet soup acronym, it doesn’t make conversation any easier. I don’t speak for everyone though, some people clearly like the name including everyone. Personally I tend to even omit the + or Q after the first time of saying because otherwise it’s still a mouthful.

I’m not a native speaker, but I do prefer using it yeah. In my opinion it reads nicer and less ambiguous. In your example the “butter and tax evasion” otherwise kinda reads like it’s one thing. You need to finish reading the following words before you can be sure that it’s the “terminal and” and not some in-between “and”. But “, and” directly communicates that it’s the terminating “and”, making reading easier.

As a software engineer/data scientist who has spent quite a while to find some good AI work, this sounds like absolute bullshit. Most companies don’t need AI. Prompt engineer seems like a niche thing, I can’t imagine that most companies really need someone who does that. It really frustrates me that these bullshit articles keep coming out without any sense or reason. AI is cool technology (imo), but currently it’s just the latest bait for CEOs, managers, etc. Somehow these kinda people are just so vulnerable for hype words without ever thinking more than as second about how to use it or whether it’s even useful.

If you give up you’ll never achieve anything. This guy is a hero. He puts himself in danger just to show that there’s still people out there willing to stand against Putin. It gives the Kremlin a headache because they have to come up with some bullshit reason again to ban him from participating. It reminds all the Russians how their system is not a real democracy. He doesn’t stand a chance to actually win, but it still communicates to everyone that there’s plenty of people in Russia who support change.
