Ever since the discovery of whale songs almost 60 years ago, scientists have been trying to decipher their lyrics. Are the animals producing complex messages akin to human language? Or sharing simpler pieces of information, like dancing bees do? Or are they communicating something else we don’t yet understand?

In 2020, a team of marine biologists and computer scientists joined forces to analyze the click-clacking songs of sperm whales, the gray, block-shaped leviathans that swim in most of the world’s oceans. On Tuesday, the scientists reported that the whales use a much richer set of sounds than previously known, which they called a “sperm whale phonetic alphabet.”

People have a pho-ne-tic alphabet too, which we use to produce a practically infinite supply of words. But Shane Gero, a marine biologist at Carleton University in Ottawa and an author of the study, said it’s unclear whether sperm whales similarly turn their phonetic sounds into a language.

“The fundamental similarities that we do find are really fascinating,” Dr. Gero said. “It’s totally changed the way we have to do work going forward.”

My wife uses VPN for work. It will bypass the pihole because it does as intended, create an encrypted virtual private network tunnel directly with their server. Pihole can see the client when it logs on to the home network but will then ignore, and won’t be able to monitor any traffic as soon as my wife logs into her works VPN anyway.

With those limited ISP routers, disable dhcp and let the pihole do the dhcp serving. This is how I do it with a raspberry pi to connect all clients and give out the pihole address automatically. It’s better anyway, as the clients data isn’t all piled up into one 3rd party’s router’s IP address.

I’ve been homeless for a long time, violent upbringing, seen the worst in people on the street so most troubles I encounter today don’t compare. When the weather is bad the sound of the wind and rain against the window makes me happy. When I feel dirty I step in the shower instead of having one 5 times a month in a shelter. The small things don’t trigger me.

My son has adhd and autism, it will make you learn to have patience, restraint and order in time and home enviroment.

People though, certainly old boomer people in supermarkets that want to walk right through you, try to skip the line or pushing the shopping cart in your ass, block the path because they want to discuss with other old people their hip replacement or next funeral to attend, or in too large vehicles (that are really useless to them) in traffic, driving the wrong way, to slow, trying to park for 5 minutes et cetera…I will turn me into a drooling rageaholic.

I see your oven doesn’t have rubber strips that could be damaged: Heat oven for a couple of minutes. Put a bowl with water and ammonia in the middle of the oven and leave it overnight in a well ventilated room. Next day all that brown stuff will be softened. Opttional you can cover the sides and bottom of the oven with green soap. Next morning everything should come off easily.

‘Too good to go’ gives me 3 shoppingbags of food for that money here in the Netherlands. Just need a freezer to keep bread, meat and veggies last for longer. We reduced the costs of food with at least 250€ per month by getting food that normally would be thrown out by retailers that is perfectly fine to consume.

We got a mushroom farm here in the Neighbourhood called Zwamburg that grows Champignons and Oyster Mushrooms, cultivated on spent coffee. They also sell kits to grow your own, and hand soap with a ‘natural scrub’. You can bring spent coffee to them and they collect around the neighbourhood from coffeebars, restaurants et cetera.

The Oyster Mushrooms I buy from them are delicious.
