  • Gee, this is fun. Reality is not wishy washy statements from literal America military institutions. It just exposes you as someone who gobbles American state department nonsense wholesale uncritically. If you watched your Rick and Morty properly you would have known that it is not a smart thing to do. Reality in this case refers to what’s happening on the ground in the war. Like Russia holding it’s annexed territories rather trying to expand indiscriminately.

No, you’ve given me nothing to suggest I should care what your response is.

    You are an idiot.

Were you expecting some report about their magic mind-reading device?

But this is what you have been doing all along. Nothing in reality suggests that total annexation of Ukraine was the goal. Not the words of anyone nor the manner in which Russia has executed the invasion yet here you are somehow reading minds to conjure grand motives and subjecting me to smug Reddittor-speak for the crime of asking you to back your frivolous claims. “Gee, this is fun.” Jesus Christ.

Culturally Russia sees itself as outside the rest of the world. At the very minimum, an equal to historical empires of Europe or Asia, but part of neither. It sees the USA as an ethnic mongrel with no culture or history, and hates the US power it projects globally.

I was wondering if you could provide something to back this up since these are rather sweeping claims.

The only thing I can think of that comes close is Dugin’s writings but I have never seen anything that could suggest that his ideas are widely accepted or adopted as the state’s doctrines.

  • Are you American? No part of the article comes close to implying they want to target American civlians:

“To the Americans I say, focusing your threats on Hezbollah and the region are pointless,” Nasrallah said. The US said it “would not only attack Lebanon but will attack Iran.”

“Your fleets in the Mediterranean do not and will not cause us to fear. We have prepared for your fleet what it takes. You Americans remember your defeats from Lebanon (early 80s), Iraq, and Afghanistan… your humiliating retreat from Afghanistan. He praised the recent attacks by Iraqi Shia militias against US based in the region.

“If an all out war erupts your fleet will be no good, your warplanes will be pointless, you will pay a heavy price.”

They are clearly talking about defending against an American intervention. Hurting American civilians in Amrerica would be even more strategically stupid than cruel so I don’t know why you jumped to that conclusion. Maybe you are projecting the American tradition of imposing collective punishment on civilians as they do in cases of their interventions and economic sanction. Unless you want just to fantasise about Muslim hordes in which case you read it however you want.

  • BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) – Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward a three-point proposal for the settlement of the Palestinian question during his talks with visiting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Beijing on Wednesday.

Xi stressed that the Palestinian question has remained unresolved for over half a century, causing great sufferings to the Palestinian people; justice must be done to Palestine as soon as possible.

First, the fundamental solution lies in the establishment of an independent state of Palestine that enjoys full sovereignty on the basis of the 1967 borders and with east Jerusalem as its capital, he said.

Second, Palestine’s economic and livelihood needs should be met, and the international community needs to step up development assistance and humanitarian aid to Palestine, he said.

Third, it is important to keep to the right direction of peace talks. The historical status quo of the holy sites in Jerusalem should be respected, and excessive and provocative words and actions should be avoided. A large-scale, more authoritative and more influential international peace conference should be convened so as to create conditions for the resumption of peace talks and contribute tangible efforts to help Palestine and Israel live in peace, he said.

“China stands ready to play a positive role to assist Palestine in achieving internal reconciliation and promote peace talks,” Xi said. ■

  • For me it’s how explicitly for-profit it has become. This manifests in a lot of things like:

    • rampant advertisements
    • dark patterns to get the users hooked
    • you literally cannot use the mobile site because it nudges you to install the app at all times
    • new UI is garbage
    • misinformation is freely allowed to fester to not drive down revenue

It has pretty much become like Facebook and it really sucks.
