I would actually have no issue paying for certain Google services
Excuse me sir, do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior, Richard Stallman?
OH, INTERESTING INFORMATION. THANKS! ;)
others pushing for forking another open-source suite
why don’t they just contribute to LibreCalc and make it better?
Free beer, like you get a free beer at a party or event, it’s no cost. Free software that costs nothing but is closed source.
Free as in freedom means the user has full access to the source code and is not subject to unknown code like in proprietary software.
Freedom as RMS sees it: https://lemmy.world/post/8134208
I’ve been using SearXNG over Duckduckgo lately. It’s a free (as in freedom) aggregator that searches all the engines. It’s not perfect but you know 100% you are not being tracked.
The results are closer to a true old school search of the web. Sometimes it works better, sometimes not as well. It’s best to pick a local instance that has quicker speeds since the main site can be a bit slower than local ones.
This distributed web stuff is really taking off. I like it!
it’s hit or miss. I’ve tried a few and each seem to have different ups and downs, but mainly just pick a server with the lowest ping.
temporal displacement obviously
Complete ecological collapse by the end of the century isn’t an existential threat?
¯_ (ツ)_/¯ . I consider myself dem soc, I just see the necessity of pragmatism right now; when the alternative is a presidential candidate who reads Mein Kampf as an instruction manual.
because any criticism of Biden right now helps Trump to become president. Save your criticisms when there is an actual open primary (ie: 2027), it’s already too late for a challenge to Biden this year, as a majority of states ballot access filing deadline dates have already passed.
I think since Lemmy is still very low on content, so any restrictions should be light. Right now Lemmy is in the wild west phase, and it’ll probably be like that for awhile until there is more content.
A long list of rules and requirements worked great on a subreddit with a million people, but right now I think less rules is better for the time being, at least until there are multiple posts a day.
there is no such tool to tag a post as such, the mod tools are still very limited. It’s either remove or approve, and it’s hard to draw where that line should go sometimes.
oh, it’s kinda scary ban from community is right next to appoint as mod. Seems like that needs some improvement ;)
how are the mod tools on Lemmy? I created a test community and I don’t see where the moderator tools are even located
Good day Sir. I have excellent merchandise to sell for you. My anti-tiger rock is guaranteed to keep all your tigers away! Please send money to this address! THANK YOU
why should everyone own a Raspberry Pi?
