I think they would start obfuscating the relevant code to get around it

Hey 👋 I’m Lemann
I like tech, bicycles, and nature.
I think they would start obfuscating the relevant code to get around it
Many ad networks and AABs do something similar (especially Admiral) in an attempt to evade ad blocking extensions
For me it’s the ability to set up a shared instance with the base request URL, and set headers for things like the user’s token, allowing all requests made with that shared Axios instance to be sent to the right path with the token without needing to define them for each individual request.
To be honest though something similar can be done with spread syntax in the Fetch API’s options parameter
it’s got telemetry on by default.
Very, very hard pass. Might even blow out my suspension doing so
A lot of jQuery’s features are now available in native JS - would also suggest just using native JS anyway because jQuery won’t throw any errors into the console if a selector matches no elements etc.
The only additional library I’ve needed recently for (personal work) is Axios for requests - easier than working with the Fetch API in some cases
@PostWatchBot@lemy.lol
Disordered; especially, disordered in mind; crazy; insane.
This is hardly deranged, there is a lot worse than this which is more deserving of that description IMO lol
Or about the D.E.V.I.L.S. format listing option on ffmpeg
Thank you 😁
I think the authors should consider watermarking their stuff, particularly if it isn’t something recognizable like Strange Planet
Ohhh it wasn’t a Pinephone I ordered, it was a Pinecil v2 and a bunch of accessories and stuff for it. Sorry I should have been clearer lol.
The pinecil is absolutely amazing so far, however the included stock tip is pretty rubbish, doesn’t distribute heat too well. The optional extra ones are much better. The whole thing is deceptively small, I thought it was going to be much larger!
Federated alternative to shXtter
My Pine64 order wasn’t marked as a gift, and it turned up at my door completely untaxed 😳
Those sony Trinitrons sounded so damn good, you could hook up two rca’s to the AV jack and use the tv as an reasonably good speaker
I honestly don’t see how the idea of everyone getting an equal share is an extremist idea
I agree.
Should I be labelled an extremist for being completely fine with, let’s say, a completely democratic business structure, where workers have equal say? A public transport system owned by the people, to serve the people? An education system owned by teachers, allowing teachers to do their best, instead of being overworked and having to pay for classroom supplies at their own cost? Nowhere does it say we’d remove the options for people to use a car, or force them into a packed subway or whatever, and nobody claims it would be a magical perfect system that solves all issues. But somehow the mere idea is extremist 🤯
This idea being conflated/confused with an authoritarian leadership style also causes a lot of problems IMO
I was under the impression that only thumbnails/lower res copies were federated, rather than the full high-res original - if that’s changed then that’s great 👌
The content shouldn’t be gone as long as that server was federated with somewhere?
It will be more difficult to get to IMO - you’ll have to either use a search engine, or query the lemmy resolve object (rs) api method on random instances until you hit one that has the federated content AFAICT.
Images are definitely lost though unless they’re uploaded to a third party that is still operational
Portable and pretty budget, a G29 + arduino with a large LCD to show live dashboard data, head tracking with OpenTrack + PS3 Eye webcam (extremely versatile camera, pretty handy for machine vision with its 120FPS support. Only downside is 640x480 max res, and the 4x array mics only work on Linux)
Only outlier is stick shift running via the Arduino for a few reasons, mainly to reduce wires and setup/packing time (need my desk for other things too, sadly can’t afford a permanent rig), and also to avoid mapping the gears in new games. I just switch between usb emulation of a known device, or sending keypresses 1-6, R
Get my simulator setup working under WINE and i’ll do a full switch, until then it’s Windows on my gaming PC and linux on everything else lol
I think so, assuming these malicious packages are all primitive enough to just look for the single file in a user’s home folder lol. The only downside here is needing to provide the keyfile location to ssh every time you want to connect… Although a system search would pretty much defeat that instantly as you mention
SSH keyfiles can be encrypted, which requires a password entry each time you connect to a SSH server. Most linux distros that I’ve used automatically decrypt the SSH keyfile for you when you log in to a remote machine (using the user keyring db), or ask you for the keyfile password once and remember it for the next hour or so (using the ssh-agent program in the background).
On Windows you can do something similar with Cygwin and ssh-agent, however it is a little bit of a hassle to set up. If you use WSL i’d expect the auto keyfile decryption to work comparably to Linux, without needing to configure anything
