Just started the Fallout series a few months ago(3, now into 4) less neon but definitely highly critical of corporations’ soullessness, consumerism, vanity and all other things that will disappear when important things happen. Incredible consistent aesthetic and feel.

I remember a piece I read in about 2003, writer for new Yorker or Slate or something was home for the holidays with her Japanese-American family. Her family, around the Christmas table was talking about the post 9-11 world, was saying the US should have tighter security and more restrictions on “Muslims” in the US, though admitting the vast majority of them were the same as other citizens.
The writer was horrified that her family–who had a grandfather in Manzanar at the table–was so ready to trod down the same road only a few decades later despite their firsthand experience in the US after Pearl harbor.
If those folks are so easily manipulated by propaganda, what hope does an average person have?

I watched this again a few years ago, and Sinbad has some of the worst delivery of all time, even among people who flexed into an “acting” career. That’s to go among with Arnie’s “unique” delivery of predictable dialogues and bad puns.

Bangladesh is mostly low-lying floodplain(even for floodplain) and may not exist in a few decades.
They hire a big 4 firm or someone who worked at one. They advise to do layoffs to juice stock price in short term. Layoffs happen, morale drops, anxiety and workloads, and demands increase. This has been going on for 40+ years after GE laid the foundation.
These same bit 4 firms are now being asked to provide guidance and they are noticing how stretched people are and how much it hurts retention and performance. Guess what they’re starting to suggest? You need middle management.
I’m familiar; more homogenous societies normally are outwardly less accepting-- everyone will be against it until their pension checks stop coming.
Importing Russian bloc women but instead of strippers and circus acts as they are now they’ll be bred.
The effects of having low grade stressor like that, combined with non-federal sick leave nor vacation and predatory corporate labor laws are what you witness in the US every day. Precipitously declining mental health for everyone, reduced social and coping skills. Commonplace violence and rage and incredible rates of anxiety and depression and resultant medication.
It’s a heavy mantle to wear when you have God On Your Side.
