I mean, an eclipse certainly isn’t moving underground…

Agreed, even if compensation was something like “minimum wage for the entire time you are wrongly incarcerated” that would be a good place to start.
Science shouldn’t operate on clickbait headlines like this.
The comic is fine. You’re assuming that all humans act rationally. This is clearly the story of a man who had an irrational fear that didn’t bother everyone else, and then learned to deal with it, in a way.
Essentially the protagonist isn’t you, but it certainly falls in the range of expected behavior for someone out there.
Man, I have two competing takes on this…
The statement “stupid people always say no” doesn’t prevent other classifications of people from saying no as well. Therefore someone saying “no” doesn’t give you any information on whether or not they are stupid.
And
All humans are obviously stupid, lol
They’re gearing up for war, sadly. The majority of dangerous cyber attacks are state-sponsored right now.
That’s a big deal if true. Hydrogen is a pain to store.
So I didn’t completely lose my taste, but vinegar somehow ended up tasting like bleach to me for a few weeks. Strange how it affects everyone differently.
It’s not limited to conservatives. Humans in general are pretty fucking stupid.
The Intuitive Machines lander issue was that no one disarmed the safety switch on the laser guidance system. (No, really!) Luckily NASA had a backup system installed that ended up working better anyway.
After another update, the lander is not in fact upright. They were looking at old data when they said that.
Not yet, the Q&A they just did said that the problem was that the lander kept switching between two sets of different dishes, constantly resetting the comms system. Looks like the problem was caused because two of the dishes are facing the ground (it tipped over).
Well you see we can’t do that because the lawmakers are the ones in charge of those corporations
You could likely fly using human power on Titan. It has a 50% denser atmosphere than earth as well as only 14% of the gravity. While that’s not neutrally buoyant, it is enough that if you had some big wings attached to your arms you could generate enough lift to fly by flapping. Comic by XKCD about this topic.
Of course, Titan is also insanely cold, so you’d need a pressure suit, which might throw off the calculation.
This also reminds me of a scene in Arthur C Clarke’s 3001: The Final Odyssey, a relatively less well known sequel to 2001. In this scene there are enormous space elevator towers that house humanity, and in the upper floors where there is low gravity they have a pressurized flight room just for the fun of it.
We have pressurized areas in microgravity today (space stations), which would obviously give you neutral buoyancy. Not a whole lot of room to maneuver around though!
Furthermore, I am of the strong opinion that Ukraine loses, eventually, unless NATO boots are on the ground in Ukraine
I think you’re right, and there’s going to be dreadful fallout no matter what NATO chooses to do.
Because the fediverse lets you control the content you federate with, it should be considered more of a choice than censorship… The problem is that some users think that their preference should also be applied to everyone else in the whole fediverse.
Maybe that’s why all the gods died out?
It shocks me how little empathy you have.
Global sea temperature affects things like hurricane strength. Buckle up.
Nothing, just use a good tool for the job, whatever that job requires.
