To offer a differing opinion, why is null helpful at all?

If you have data that may be empty, it’s better to explicitly represent that possibility with an Optional<T> generic type. This makes the API more clear, and if implicit null isn’t allowed by the language, prevents someone from passing null where a value is expected.

Or if it’s uninitialized, the data can be stored as Partial<T>, where all the fields are Optional<U>. If the type system was nominal, it would ensure that the uninitialized or partially-initialized type can’t be accidentally used where T is expected since Partial<T> != T. When the object is finally ready, have a function to convert it from Partial<T> into T.

The “++” in C++ stands for extra verbose.

From a (dev)ops perspective, if I had a vendor hand me a tarball instead of proper documentation, I’d look very far away from their company. It isn’t a matter of if shit goes wrong, but when. To be fair to PDFs, they can contain JavaScript. Blame Adobe for that and their originally-exclusive-to-Acrobat extension for that.

If he had said “LaTeX” or “roff”, that might have been a good example of something that blurs the line between the two. They aren’t specifically intended to be programming languages, but with a powerful enough macro system, a markup or typesetting language can be used in the same way as something like Brainfuck.

The system of checks and balances falls apart when one party controls all three bodies involved in passing legislation. The best Democrats could hope for is indefinitely delaying legislation at the Senate level.

Also, there’s no basis for assuming that Biden’s second term won’t be even more genocidal. Right now he has to worry about the election, how bad is he going to get without that hanging over his head? You’re just assuming Trump will be worse because he’s more vulgar.

There’s nothing to assume; if Trump gets what he wants, he will cause an even greater loss of human life globally.

• Trump has openly stated that he would encourage Russia to attack NATO members that don’t contribute enough funding. Whether Russia will take that as a green light remains to be seen, but it’s clear that Trump does not care about human lives that aren’t his own.

• Trump promises to “solve” the Israel situation “very fast” if re-elected. If you think this means anything other than performing swift and brutal military action against Palestine, I have a bridge to sell you.

• Trump plans on heavily investing into domestic production and consumption of fossil fuels if re-elected. And if the former two weren’t bad enough, he’s all for cooking the animals and humans of this planet alive.

Biden and his NATO allies are keeping the war going by stopping negotiations. Biden made the war worse.

Negotiations with a party holding the stance that they would not settle for less than the full annexation of Ukraine? The only way to not make that worse in the short term is to give Putin exactly what he wants—which will be far worse in the long term.

Biden is putting us on the brink of war with Iran! And Yemen! And Lebanon!

I can’t refute or argue against this without citations, and I’m not finding much other than speculation.

I don’t disagree that they’re both bad, but Trump is magnitudes worse. Until he either finally dies or gives up on a second term, the best thing United States citizens can do for the country and rest of world is make sure he doesn’t ever get re-elected.

Revolutionary defeatism without a revolutionary class willing to or capable of starting a civil war isn’t much more than political nihilism in practice. To that effect, inaction in mitigating capitalist interests from overtaking the interests of the proletariat performs the same role as accelerationism: allowing a capitalist society to destabilize itself and implode.

After that, by all means, eat the formerly-rich.

It’s about a zero percent chance. If, by some miracle, they managed to win even a single state, they wouldn’t have enough power to influence anything. If they hypothetically won the presidency and vetoed any bills offering support to Israel, the Democrats and Republicans in the senate and house could work together to override the veto with a two thirds vote.

In a two-party first-past-the-post system, it’s not wrong.

Having ideals is nice, but unless you manage to get the majority of the districts in your state to vote for a specific third party candidate, not voting for the minority lesser evil is indirectly supporting the greater evil.

The only end-to-end happening in those scenarios is the end-to-end pipeline of “shit in, shit out”.
