I really didnt put all that thought into it when I posted this (certainly wasn’t looking to evangelize Rust). It was mildly amusing (memory safety came to mind) and I needed a title somewhat related to the meme was really all there was to it.
Poplar?

I think they understood “liberal” to mean “classical liberal” which obviously would have the issue they point out. But FT seems to be using “liberal” to mean “progressive” or something like that.
Theistic evolution believers: why not both
I meant that there is nothing inherent to dogs that makes them pets and not for eating, while livestock are for eating. They are both just animals, people should be consistent in either having empathy for all such animals or not at all.
I dont see any reason why you cant raise some livestock as pets. People already keep pigs as pets.
When Christian fundamentalists dictate weird rules for what women should wear, let’s condemn them.
When Muslim fundies do the same, (going much further in fact) let’s accuse the poster of hate 🙃
Hm? I became one upon opening the comments section.

I loved it :)
I didnt care for all the musicians and would instead watch regular people doing stuff or showing off parts of their lives, and get to occasionally ask them about their interests for example.
A chat with a tailor at work, someone showing off their farm, two random irish dudes in their living room, etc.

That would make a great writing prompt imo !writingprompts@lemmy.world
This is an issue with authoritarianism. I don’t think it’s ever accurate or useful blanket blaming Muslims.
(P.S let’s not forget many of our countries buy Saudi oil, we’re funding this regime and what it does.)
Yeah, it’s fun how religiosity varies. I’ve a friend who doesn’t even pray :)
P.S even if they occasionally get things right, islamqa.info is a fundamentalist site that follows a very recent ideology that isnt what most muslims believe, and against the established schools of law in islam. Best not to use it.
Makeup is only considered forbidden by the more extreme groups, it isnt for moderates. Pork meanwhile is taboo and avoided by everyone.
Im guessing this parodies how Nazis defend the swastika with the same justification. That was good.
Here’s a satirical passage from Terry Prachett’s Small Gods that I absolutely love:
There were all sorts of ways to petition the Great God, but they depended largely on how much you could afford, which was right and proper and exactly how things should be. After all, those who had achieved success in the world clearly had done it with the approval of the Great God, because it was impossible to believe that they had managed it with His disapproval. In the same way, the Quisition could act without possibility of flaw. Suspicion was proof. How could it be anything else? The Great God would not have seen fit to put the suspicion in the minds of His exquisitors unless it was right that it should be there. Life could be very simple, if you believed in the Great God Om. And sometimes quite short, too.
I’m guessing you didn’t manually insert those footnotes, how did you?
If posts were signed, it wont matter what instance youre posting from since your identity would be tied to your public key and not the account on a Mastodon/lemmy/etc server.
Thats more decentralized. It helps when you get banned, a server shuts down etc.
