Thank you… I hate all the people who are “we’ll permanently destroy the earth and it’ll never recover!” crowd. Maybe for us it’ll be too inhospitable and we won’t survive, but nature is surprisingly resilient. From bacteria that can eat oil and plastic, to entire generations of flora and fauna living in irradiated landscapes, it will adapt and be here long after we’re gone.
I know too many devs to have my body require a firmware update.
So does the Bivalent booster help with this one or does a new booster need to be developed? Basically is there anything we can do besides normal germ avoidance procedures?
Yeah to add to that it is pronounced more like “Mass-tah-don” rather than “Mass-toe-don”. The “tah” portion makes people think it’s spelled with a “ta” since that would give you that pronunciation normally instead of “to”. One of the many insane quirks of the English language stealing from other languages over the centuries.
Nation favors local incumbent, news at 11…
Control is another thing. I can’t tell you the amount of execs I’ve heard say “they’re losing control of their company” or “I don’t feel I have the same control over my people”. It’s crazy that they think that. What do they think the past 3 years have been when they’ve gotten record profits “oh, but our profits would be even better if we had people back in the office”. Sadly no amount of data will override the entrepreneurial “it could always be more” what if that they throw out.
10-15? That’s childs play. I honestly read probably an order of magnitude more than that.
Ironically Sync can block entire instances.
If you think that’s bad, wait till you hear about the US… Only one small part that hits 150mph (240km/h) on a 50mi (80km) section. For a country that’s got more land area that Europe…
But the beard and your clothes are all things you control. You don’t expect someone to change their looks for you. So likewise you shouldn’t be expecting developers to meet your stylistic demands.
Given the activity pub nature I think the closest you would get would be to filter by an instance. So your home instance would get all the ones it sees via the pub and then could filter based on name. To get a true “local” view you’d either have to auth anonymously as a different user (couldn’t comment) or would have to log in to that instance as one of their users (disjointed comment history).
Edit: I think this goes under the umbrella of allowing individuals to filter instances, just a reverse application of it. I know that’s an oft talked about feature.
I have never understood why people put so much stock in icons. It’s like people getting upset over the new pixelated reddit icon. It’s all reminiscent of the custom ring tones and call back song that people used to obsess over.
I did that as a kid in school passing notes!
You’re just not going to give up this crusade are you? Going to start comparing salaries of line workers to starving kids in Africa again?
It also works just fine with Chrome, there’s an extension you need to install. It’s a Chromium feature they’re leveraging. I know this because we’re in the same boat as you. Unfortunately it doesn’t work with Firefox.
“in” is the abbreviation for “inches” and Google will most always interpret it that way from an English language point of view. Additionally as a vernacular you usually only say “meters in feet” when your wanting to do a single unit conversion such as “how many meters are in a foot?”. Google’s language processing tends to be heavily slanted towards common English in which case some differences like that will never be considered how you want.
Doesn’t work when you don’t type it out correctly. It’s interpreting the “m” as million and “in” as inches. Use “m to ft” to get it every time

You can’t do it in wefwef, but for Lemmy backed instances if you go in to your settings link under your account, there’s a tab for “Blocks” in which you can block specific users and communities. You can’t block instances however. Basically you have to remember the name of the community and search for it there.
I agree a block button on the community would be better but at least there is some method for blocking.
Had us in the first half, not gonna lie.
