Ooh good catch. That makes sense. Not sure I would call this beautiful, especially without any way to tell how much time has passed, but fair enough

That doesn’t make sense unless this was personal expenditure, which it doesn’t seem to be
But… from when? Surely expenditure hasn’t gone up linearly with time
…how did the line come about? How did they determine what the life expectancy would have been with less expenditure per capita?
Foolish me for thinking no-one could possibly need an /s on that comment.
I got the sarcasm, but this particular point is – as you’ve demonstrated very clearly in your response – the actual message you’re trying to push.
Or did you not know that highly addictive amphetamines is a commonly prescribed for ADHD?
You’re using “highly addictive” to insinuate that this is just a ludicrous and fundamentally flawed practice. No concern towards all of those who do have ADHD who report that medication has helped them live a life otherwise inaccessible to them. It’s highly stigmatizing framing and just because you have a valid point about opioids does not mean you get to dismiss genuine mental health struggles as having fallen prey to a marketing scheme.
the real breakthrough has been convincing everyone that they have some sort of mental health issue that requires pharmaceuticals. The entire country is taking something, and that’s been a huge help in keeping people docile.
I was with you up until that point. You point out that the poor are made to fight each other and then you engage in a fight against the disadvantaged who need medical assistance? Fuck this science denying, ableist bullshit.
Interesting & quite a cool visualization!
I am on day 7 of symptoms right now, also just got it after dodging it for almost four years. My fever has subsided but boy am I congested still. I’m just glad the massive headaches are gone, I couldn’t think straight for a while.
On the other hand, I’ve been wearing FFP2 masks in all indoor spaces religiously and I’ve been planning to keep doing it until I got covid (my masks didn’t fail me in the end either, I got it from a household member), and at this point I am genuinely excited to finally not be the outsider anymore and feel more normal again.
Grammar aside, it’s an odd choice to fill up half the page with 747s if you want to showcase the variety of commercial passenger airplanes.
Hamas are not in the West Bank
It’s not “considered trendy”, your understanding of communism – an economic system – is just conflated with authoritarianism – a political system. You can advocate for one without advocating for the other.
That said, capitalism also leads to the deaths of millions, but somehow that’s just an unquestionable fact of life.
Yeah, but even that is stretching it for a work email unless there is a concrete reason you’d be concerned, like you know they’re dealing with stuff. Otherwise – at least in my northern German circles – that’s already getting pretty personal
Yeah I mean you can translate it literally, but it means nothing. The English equivalent of what it communicates in German would be more like “I hope this email gets delivered to you.” which is just a weird thing to say.
I would post the UN human rights council’s analysis but I already know you would just move the goalposts and say the UN aren’t “international policy experts” so why even bother
As a native German speaker I agree that ChatGPT is very English-flavored. I think it’s just because the sheer amount of English training data is so much larger that the patterns it learned from that bleed over into other languages. Traditional machine translations are also often pretty obvious in German, but they are more fundamentally wrong in a way that ChatGPT isn’t.
It’s also somewhat cultural. The output you get from ChatGPT often sounds overly verbose and downright ass-kissing in German, even though I know I wouldn’t get that impression from the same output in English, simply because the way you communicate in professional environments is vastly different. (There is no German equivalent to “I hope this email finds you well”, for example.)
I regularly have those dreams where I am desperately trying to open my eyes because of some danger or other, but they’re suuuper heavy and it doesn’t work. This is that
Well that’s also quite reductionist.
I am in pure disbelief at how aggressively the country is prosecuting dissent on this particular conflict compared to previous crises. Literal neo-Nazi marches are scrutinized less than activists calling for peace. Germany has just gone full mask off
That isn’t what they asked! They asked about when it is tolerable to use fewer digits and at what point the loss of precision becomes a concern again. Your responses have nothing to do with that question.
There’s no authority that would use a higher number of decimals
Cool, but that still doesn’t answer OP’s question.
The point OP is making is that those people would not put 2 and 2 together to understand that the files they were looking at are called temp files, just because that’s the folder they found them in. They may not even remember the name of the folder, only that it contains a bunch of files with a prefix they’re now googling.
Not sure why I’m bothering explaining this to you, the way you responded makes you look absolutely insufferable, but maybe someone else who comes across this will find it useful.
