Works fine on my end, could’ve been a temporary outage.
I’m the most active postee there (hello again). I prefer LW’s gaming community for a few reasons, a lot of which are kind of petty but still.
I dislike the shitjustworks domain name, I think it’ll hamper community growth when a casual user base joins and thinks it’s a dumb name
The people there often mirror /r/games posts, there’s nothing wrong with that and I enjoy browsing it, but I enjoy the more quality over quantity of LW’s community
games@lemmy.world has clean icons and branding which is cool
But mostly it’s just reluctance to move away from the largest gaming community in Lemmy. Content is hard to find, and I talked about this many times, leaving LW communities means splitting the userbase even more and wondering where the content is. People are tired of migrating and just want to post and discuss. If having a large instance causes technical issues, that’s more of Lemmy’s problem IMO.
It’s private if you run it locally
Making every community ever in your instance won’t attract any users, the only thing they’re going to see is dozens of empty communities.
Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time… I remember when hold forward line rider maps were all the rage on early youtube.
Yeah the rates of new stickers should be a bit less but it’s way better than what it used to be, at least you’re not losing on ante 2 constantly due to bad rng
> Decide to create a very basic GUI app in Rust, as everyone is saying it’s a great language for it
> First compilation takes over 15 minutes to download and compile 100 libraries
> Debug files take up 2GB of storage
> Output binary file comes out massive for no reason
> “Yeah you’re supposed to write a few lines to optimize for size in your release profile”
> Compiling now takes 30 minutes instead
Mastodon’s main dev isn’t really open. Have a look at the “Ego” part of this article
That article was over 5 years ago now. I would expect that there has been massive change now that Mastodon is way more popular, and the project is way more involved. Also, blocks and mutes do work now.
but the Fediverse as a whole.
FWIW video playback on Mastodon has been seamless for me.
no general purposd language can guarantee a lack of memory leaks
You’re going to summon every Rust enthusiast on the platform
Commenting so I don’t forget (I will)
I just want to know if artificial general intelligence is real, and when that’ll happen.
Oh, and go back to 2011 and buy me some bitcoin please.
Are we still doing this narrative that the US wants Israel to stop? They have literally given them billions since they’ve started bombing. Any bullshit about hoping for palestinians is just trying to save face.
Also shoutout to Monster Sanctuary. It’s quite different but still a great monster taming game.
I did grow up speaking it, I’m just better with my 2nd language.
I was actually in a similar situation where I wasn’t too good with my native tongue so people would constantly ask where I’m from. It’s not malicious, people just assume you’re not from here if your accent is different.
Just lots of trolls lately, most communities are fine but some have poor moderation so these types of comments/posts take some time to get deleted. All the communities I’m browsing are quite chill.
He’s still writing? I thought he retired a few weeks back.
