Hey, y’all! Just another random, loudmouthed, opinionated, Southern-fried nerdy American living abroad.

Nah, the weird terminally online hard right-wingers, the netouyo, are big mad about it. And they can stay mad.
I’ve stopped using Google Maps for walking directions and use Apple Maps instead. Whenever I use Google Maps, it gave me the most winding, dark backstreet walking route possible, but the same way on Apple Maps was really straightforward.
I really feel like Google is overall degrading.
Al Jazeera is streaming it live on their site and YouTube.
Girls have to wear skirts no matter the weather, including on cold days, abs are not allowed to wear tights. Japanese schools often are not geared other than a large space heater in the front of the room, so girls can spend their entire day cold. Meanwhile boys can be completely covered up and warm.
Hopefully they’ll be able to extend it even longer.

Strange; I just tried the link and it worked.
Here’s a link to the whole topic page, “Europe,” and as of right now, this story is the first one listed. Maybe going to it that way will work? https://www.france24.com/en/europe/
Oh god, that poor girl.
And he’s gonna have to tell her sooner rather than later. You can’t lie forever about something like this.
Oh, thank goodness! I’ve been following this story and I’m so glad they’re all out.
Y’know, I gotta admit, I would have never pegged this article as one that would make my notifications go wild. 🤣
He was trying to scare Media Matters and forgot a) a lot of folks don’t like him and b) a lot of folks hate lying bullies.
I suspect this will not go well for him.
Here’s a link to a non-paywalled article I just saw: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-67543278
But if you click on it, you’ll see it says “Australian politics.” Amazing how actually looking at articles and not just headlines gives you more information!
Yeah, shit is NOT good over here. Prices on basic necessities have soared but wages haven’t appreciably changed in, legit, 20 years. People are sick of Kishida and hours approval rates are in the tank because he’s raised taxes while inflation has meant basic goods is up. Japan is not a good example right now.
Here’s an article I read a few days ago on the inflation over here Notice how they leave out the cost of food and energy calculating things. Plus, that talk about:
Energy prices dropped 8.7 percent, weighed down by government subsidies for lowering gasoline and other fuel costs to support households. The fall was smaller than the previous month’s 11.7 percent.
sounds nice until you consider it had shot up between 24-48% depending on where you’re getting power from (I’m lucky. I’m in Osaka so prices only went up about 25%. They went up 48% in Hokkaido).
Yeah, I’m not in the tiniest bit hopeful they’ll actually pay.
The mother has been offered a permanent position at the university she was teaching at, so she was already planning on staying in the UK.
Not so interesting, but actually really important because a lot of people have secret phones and not knowing about this can give them away. Yeah, it was kinda funny how a bunch of Amish got caught with secret phones when that US did this same thing, but many folks in abusive situations trying to get out also have them, and it can be dangerous if those get discovered.
I’m not Canadian and I live in Asia, so it’s pretty “world” to me.
I think they just forgot to capitalize the A. Whoops.
