  • You can configure Krunner to not use some services that may be causing tthe lag.

    It’s superfast in my machine.

Also, I think the first launch is the most problematic, so try to launch the background service at start, there must be some tutorials on this.

In any case, Krunner is not supposed to be a key-combo launcher. It’s a search engine. Use shortcuts for opening your most used apps.

    • Super+B for browser
    • Super+E for file explorer

    …and so on

  • Some responses are somehow disappearing, maybe some federation issue?

But yes, so far responses are very much very meh. From such an amount of hate I was expecting a Jordan Peterson level of evidence where you get him rambling for 10 minutes about how women should be more in the kitchen or something 😅.

Turns out most “evidence” so far is basically personal life rumours and “pseudoscience” claims without explicit examples.

    We’ll see.

  • Only when you have it working you truly realise how cool it is that things can now happen on their own, AND because you wanted them to. Like, I have some stair lights turn on when someone passes by, BUT only when the Sun angle is low enough. So it magically happens earlier in winter, and later in summer. BUT it’s even better, because when it’s after 22:30, the turn-on automation is deactivated as to avoid the dogs flashing the lights on while we sleep. It’s like magic and you can tailor things for your workflow.

  • I just had a fun idea that might not take too much time to implement and could work on your own computer (not 100%, but probably more privacy friendly than using YouTube directly):

    • have a powerful AI companion API, such as ChatGPT 4. The most up-to-date with the world data the better it would work.
    • write a script that gathers your favourite channels, the last 100 videos you watched, and whatever other useful data you feel could serve as “food”
    • send a prompt to the AI asking for “give me 10 interesting YouTube search queries related to the following channels/themes […]”
    • use multiple Piped/Invidious server APIs and query these and gather the most common results + the top X results or each query.
    • profit?

  • If you have an ereader with an eink screen… it’s a no-brainer. Digital books are soooo good.

    • virtually no weight
    • virtually no space
    • waaaaay cheaper
    • your local library has probably a way bigger and more accessible catalogue of ebooks than physical ones
    • tap and hold a word and get an automatic definition/translation
    • adjust text size or font
    • dark mode, if you into that (in some models)
    • Text-to-speech (in some models)
    • highlight text and write notes without f-ing up pages
    • literally translate entire phrases or look particular information from Wikipedia or similar with a simple gesture.
    • backup all of those and do crazy stuff like an automatic daily email to yourself with cool notes you took months/years ago.

Physical books nowadays are like vynil music… it’s for the artwork and having a physical “certificate” of something you love. Like… if I discover a book I really enjoy, I’ll probably buy a physical version so I can, you know, have it there on the shelf, like you have family pics or something.
