Definitely not the most optimal path. It’s arguably the result of terrible deals from the previous government starting with Nord Stream pushed by Gerhard Schröder directly profiting from it. It is sad how to see how individual greed has an impact on millions of citizens. Unless this kind of corruption has actual consequences, it will happen again. The effect here has been accelerated with the war in Ukrain. Hopefully Germany can find better compromises because this was a terrible bet. Interesting also to compare how Belgium handled a similar situation, namely reverting the decision to step away from nuclear.

I’m not saying it is your duty to do so, I’m not saying some politician don’t have other interests in mind beside that of all citizens, yet I also do not think it is trivial so I’m wondering if there is an obvious better alternative than what is in place. I believe by trying we often see that the current solution isn’t great but there are a lot more worst ones and that new ones often have other flaws, at least have different compromises.

WebThings (or Home Assitant) with Zigbee plugs and Zigbee (or BT or WiFi, whatever) button remote, it exists. Otherwise can use your phone to control those too.

I’ve done it few times (with Google Glass, Glass2, Vuzix Blade, Monocle) relatively easy to do but the latency IMHO is what makes it unusable.

Pretty trivial technically speaking, you record everything once you get people consent, then you transcribe with e.g whisper.cpp or whatever else you have, search within the transcriptions and generate a link back to the original files, if need be, with seeking timing to double check.

less slick and much smaller community but the PineNote also works with Linux, kind of.

I mean I used it as an XR controller/actuator but that’s not exactly the typical use case and obviously going to drain the battery a LOT faster.

Interesting, both are sold, namely transparent screens with e.g LG and eInk monitors e.g Dasung so… could make for a cool prototype. I imagine though that studying the costs, economical and ecological, a “boring” screen might be better in most cases.

Im doing that with Quests HMDs, including with my own code e.g https://git.benetou.fr/utopiah/text-code-xr-engine/ and… far from perfect but works today. If you need more lightweight but not standalone then BigScreen might have a better option. Gestures do work well but aren’t super precise for now but I imagine the trend will keep up, especially with Vision Pro.
