  • Google Pixel is no-brainer choice. Any pixel from 7th gen.

GrapheneOS is kind of nice if you don’t hate setting everything up, but for example, Google Wallet does not work on it. Camera is somewhat trash. Myself I did not like it due to camera and google wallet functionality.

Ex-OnePlus user. Their software is buggy and shit. OnePlus used to be amazing but not anymore.

Mobile market sucks in terms of competition tbh… All 3rd party ROMs like LineageOS are usually bloated with bugs there and there. Wouldn’t recommend!

  • Unpopular opinion: everyone focuses on productivity, then on features. Literally zero consideration for performance. Also lack of customization. I can flash Linux, hackintosh or any other random OS on any laptop I buy, but not on smartphone…

Kind of sucks that my Cat S62 Pro smartphone suck ass with it’s slowness and lags and I can blame Cat as a manufacturer for that, but lack of standards (so I can flash generic OS onto it simply sucks).

So I am forced to buy new phone every 1-2 years because it gets slow… 🤷

Oh wait! Batteries are not replaceable! USB-C port is also incresibly hard to change!

  • Devops here. The company I work in has enforced managed Windows laptops.

What I did was to get BIOS password, test everything in Arch Linux VM, everything works - my work laptop now runs on Arch Linux.

Been 4 months and haven’t got cought. Also managed to get rid of company’s proxy server and DNS, because companys resources are available without proxy via VPN, and everything else - via proxy, so I wrote a bash script with the help of ChatGPT that implements “VPN Split” post-VPN connection, also removes company DNS servers from /etc/resolv.conf and 🎉. Works like a charm. I can even open p*rnhub and company wouldn’t even tell as it goes directly through my router. Also the laptop is now fast AF, zero proxy configuration (unlike in Windows for WSL), it’s perfect now.

And that’s in a large international company where Windows/Macs are enforced. I guess I am genius there… 😅
