    Both are crappy authoritarian ideologies with a fondness for state violence

    … so like a horseshoe shape where the more extreme ends seem to trend back to the same place?

      No. There being similarities doesn’t mean that they’re identical. For example, fascism is ultra-capitalist and against social safety nets, whereas communism is anti-capitalist and very much in favor of social safety nets.

      To think them identical requires a child-level understanding of political ideologies, something that’s unfortunately very common amongst liberals and centrists.
